Welcome Home Saturday with friends and some good ol’ southern chit chat

Spread the love

Hello my wonderful friends!  Today I’m a guest joining some fabulous friends in a series called Welcome Home Saturday.   Each week they post what’s been going on in their lives and share a post from each other’s blogs.  I love this blogging community.  Everyone is so encouraging and friendly.  I was asked to post something already written and I did, it’s at the bottom.  But also here’s a little Welcome Home Saturday with friends and some good ol’ southern chit chat.

If you’ve not been here before, my name is Cindy.  The mister and I are empty nesters taking care of our home in the Dallas area and an inherited country home down south where like most days in Texas, it’s hotter than a honeymoon hotel.  But truth be told, it’s a dream life really although sometimes I might want to sneak out a cuss word but refrain.

Welcome Home Saturday with friends and some good ol’ southern chit chat.

I still say empty nester even after all three kids have moved back home.  Yep.  The first one is home for a bit because his roommate got engaged and he wasn’t about to live with married people.  The middle child (and her dog) came back because she’s being based here for at least 6 months (she’s a flight attendant).  And the last one comes home next weekend after graduating college until she gets married next spring.  I keep telling myself, Gods plans are better than my plans.  And I bet you can sometimes hear me mumble that in my sleep.  Enough about me!

Let’s get to the good stuff and see what the other ladies have been doing this week!

Here’s some southern chit chat.

Just in case you’ve heard some of these Texas sayings but didn’t know what in tarnation they meant, here’s a few explanations.  If someone says…

Might as well. Can’t dance, never could sing, and it’s too wet to plow.  That means it’s acceptable.

If I say a hen dips snuff, you can look under her wing for the can.  This means they are honest.

He’s so country he thinks a seven-course meal is a possum and a six-pack.  That means they’re unsophisticated.

I hear you clucking, but I can’t find your nest.  This means you’re crazy.

He’s riding a gravy train with biscuit wheels.  Last but not least, this means you’re lucky!

Well there you go!  Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you found fun inspiration from my friends as you peeked into their lives.  They are so creative and I enjoy their blogs tremendously.  If you’d like to subscribe to my blog, you can do that below.  Plus, I’d love it if you followed me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook so I can get to know you better!

My children have done the same thing, they’re home then gone, I think that’s a norm. I love your farmhouse and wish you a Happy Mother’s Day.

Do they leave, come home, leave and come home again? I don’t think I’d mind that but can’t speak for the mister. LOL! Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day too Marlene.
