Happy weekend my friends!  Today is our bi-monthly Lifestyle of Love hop where my friends and I share a treasure we enjoy using in our homes.  Since we are into autumn, we’re showing off our amber glass collections which is why I’m sharing how to decorate with amber glass using these 5 easy ideas.

Decorate With Amber Glass Using These 5 Easy Ideas

My first piece of amber glass was purchased only 3 years ago and it wasn’t anything old or unique.  It actually came from Hobby Lobby.  As soon as I got it home I was hooked on the lovely caramel color.  I’ve since found more at antique stores and really enjoy using them around the farmhouse and in our everyday home.

In my opinion, amber glass is one of those things that looks good anywhere.  You don’t have to be surrounded by antiques.  These days the glass comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes.  And if you already use warm colors throughout your home, it looks fantastic all year round.

I’d advise not to use them with cooler tones or white as they stand out like a sore thumb.  Unless of course, that’s your point!  Every once in a while, it’s fun to be less subtle and a bit more striking.

Maybe I’m less creative than most because I love love love clipping stems and bringing the outdoors in.  God made such beautiful foliage, why not?  I think he said one day Cindy is going to want to use my works of art as free decorating bits so I better add plenty to choose from.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

3 amber bottles with dried flowers as a table centerpieceEasy decorating idea 3 – Use them for a simple table centerpiece.

I found these dried flowers at an antique store but have no clue what they’re called.  Yes, I could do some research but why do that when I have genius friends to help?!  ๐Ÿ˜‰  Anyone know?  I love how the petals are clustered together.

Can you see the one bottle in the back and how pretty it is?  The details are what caught my eye.  And did you notice that all three bottles are a different shape?  Displays are more pleasant to look at if everything isn’t exactly the same.

If you’ve been with me for a while then you know I enjoy putting tapered candles inside bottles to be slightly less traditional.  You also know that books are my favorite go-to for seasonal color.  So it’s no wonder when I put them together.  Don’t worry, if left unattended, the candles would be battery operated.

If you want the old stuff, antique stores are full of it so the glass is easily found.  So, when you saw how to decorate with amber glass using the 5 easy ideas above, I hope you thought of something you’d like to incorporate in your own home.  And since it’s autumn, now is a great time to try it out.

Next up is Lora Bloomquist.  That girl has quite the collection of everything!  I don’t know where she puts it all but one of these days I’m going to get a tour of her home and see for myself!  Don’t forget to check out Debra’s post as well.  Everything she touches is beautiful.

Ooh, I love your amber glass candlestick! Wouldnโ€™t mind adding a set of those to my collection;) Yes, love combining candles with amber glass, too. Such pretty ideas!

Thank you so much Lora. Those came from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. I bet they still have them!

Oh Cindy, I love your way of thinking. You have such an artful eye, that gourd in the fencing is just perfection. I believe your dried florals are Oak Leaf Hydrangeas which reminds me I have a bunch of those same blooms that I haven’t done anything with this year. They look gorgeous in your amber bottles. I use these mostly in the fall but need to rethink that and use them more often thru the year. Thanks so much for hosting the Hop. I’m always challenged! Happy weekend!

Yay, I’m so glad to hear what the flowers are called! I’ll admit, I laughed out loud when I read you think I have an artful eye and like my way of thinking. I’m often told I’m a bit wack in my thinking. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I find your comment to be the greatest of compliments! Thank you! Big hugs Debra. You made my day.

You have some great candle stick holders and love your displays. I also like the way you tie ribbon around them. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Thank you Marlene. I find ribbon to be the cheapest way to elevate a plain piece so for me, it’s an obvious choice. I appreciate that you even noticed! Hope you’re enjoying your autumn.

Yes, I think 5hey are oak leaf hydrangeas as well. I have a few growing in my yard. The Amber is very pretty. Will have to find some.

Thank you Cherry! I’ve never seen them in yards so I hope to see fresh ones and in a garden some day. Maybe they are a flower that does well in places that don’t have extreme heat? They seem delicate. Have a great weekend.

Thanks so much Rita. It’s been fun to find more amber glass. It’s crazy how often I notice it now that I had too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Very pretty. I used to have a small collection of old bottles that I found while digging around in my garden. I have moved since then. My husband and I downsized quite a bit and I don’t have the room for a lot of displays anymore. Your post has inspired me. I think I have one amber coloured bottle in my collection. I will have to dig it out.

I’m so glad to have been an inspiration! Hope you get it out and love how it looks. Thank you so much.

I don’t know why I don’t have any amber glass because when I look at them in your home it looks amazing! I love how you used them in so many different ways and with seasonal vignettes too. It all looks so warm and inviting. Big hugs, CoCo

Thank you for these wonderful ideas. How do you recommend incorporating amber glass into a modern or minimalist interior design, where simplicity is key? Any tips for balancing the warm, rustic charm of amber glass with a more contemporary aesthetic?

    • October 19, 2023 / 10:12 am

Amber glass comes in stunning shapes and sizes. Use a single vase (or bottle) with one stem (real or faux) for a modern look. Crate and Barrel has gorgeous candlesticks in amber glass as well. Whatever piece you choose, keep it simple and use only one piece here and there to keep it contemporary. Hope that helps and thanks for the visit Jenna!
