If you’re on a social media platform or have been alive in 2026, then you’ve heard words like layered warmth, collected, curated, and personal. Certain designers, trendsetters (whatever you want to call them), tell us that what is old is new again. I think they’ve finally got it!
Spring Decorating Ideas With Vintage Collections
At first, all the articles aggravated me. Mostly because my favorite pastime of slowly beholding all the goodness an antique store has to offer was now crowded with millennials, which made prices go up – an unflattering behavior, I know.
The entryway holds part of a collection of geese. They are perfect for spring or all year round.
Conversely, I began seeing some of my vintage treasures (like the ducks, baskets, and paintings) being showcased as trendy or a “must-have” item. That made me grin, and I was encouraged. I’ve always struggled with spring decorating in our home.
Our house faces south, and we have a patio on the back side, so we don’t get a lot of light in the living room and kitchen. During the hot Texas summers, the darker rooms are much appreciated.

Last spring, I had someone tell me that my black furniture was sterile and dull, and that my vintage chamber pot shouldn’t be on display. Well, that had me second-guessing myself.
I edit the decor that hangs in the frame seasonally.
But then, I thought they were rude and ill-mannered. Really, the only people who need to like my decor are the Mister and me. So I’m going to give spring decorating another try this year and do it with encouragement. I hope you are inspired and find something you can do in your own home.
During winter, the antique column is a coat rack. During spring and summer, it holds decor!
Spring decorating doesn’t have to cost money. You don’t have to go out and buy new things. Remember what I said at the beginning? What is old is new again! I’m going to use what I already have out every day, and throw in a few blooms, and bunnies here and there.
You can easily substitute plates for a spring look!
Every room in the house has several antique or vintage pieces. I adore all of them. I wish the Mister felt the same. He thinks we have too much furniture. He’s actually said wall-to-wall furniture before. I’m trying to convince him that it’s cozy. But as long as I can see space in between pieces, I feel we are doing okay.
An antique window anchors a seasonal plate display and always has a seasonal wreath.
Honestly, I don’t understand why he doesn’t understand. I’ve been decorating the same way since we got married in 1992. He used to frequently ask why I moved the furniture around so much. After about the third time, I told him that technically I was saving money. He just smiled but has never asked again.
Layer pieces for a dramatic look. Like the old shutter. You can hang almost anything on it.
Is it just me, or is redesigning a space not common sense if you want something new and don’t want to spend the money? I find moving furniture from one room to another exhilarating. You get a new look, and it took only some time and effort.

BTW, I wanted to mention that Facebook Marketplace is a great place to find what you’re looking for. Once you start adding specifics in the search bar, Facebook will continue to tweak your feed so more fabulous finds pop up.
Fill your home with pieces you love. And it’s even better when they have a story.
Another great place to find sweet deals is at a store-closing sale. Watch Instagram and your local online paper for dates and percentages. Once the prices drop to 40%, that’s when I go. Of course, you might want to head over early just in case there’s something you can’t live without. It’s disheartening when you rush over to find a sold tag already on a piece you wanted.
An antique cart makes a great side table.
Lastly, visit your local consignment stores. They have furniture and accessories at more affordable prices.

Personally, I am drawn to vintage green pottery, all kinds of plates, and table linens, to name a few. I think it’s the gift of hospitality from the Lord. I’m on cloud nine when I have the opportunity to use that gift, and it’s icing on the cake when I get to use the vintage plates and serving pieces too.
Spreading your collections around creates joy in more places!
If you have a collection of items, I find it favorable to spread them out. Sure, they can make a larger impact when styled together. But for me, I seem to really see them when they are separated.

Although I could go on and on about all things home, and my spring decorating ideas with vintage collections, it’s time to share more spring tours from my friends. You can see them below, and believe me, it’s worth getting cozy and exploring them all!
And a big thank you to our hostesses, Lynn at Living Large In A Small House and Amy Sadler Designs, for getting us all together. You are both amazing! Happy spring, friends!

Your home is gorgeous! I love all the spring touches you added throughout the home.

Thanks so much. I’m already tweaking things around here. It sounds like TX up there. This weekend I plan to clean and decorate it so of course it’s going to be 94 degrees! Bleh.
Cindy, I got a laugh about your Mr. He sounds exactly like mine! So I guess that makes us kindred spirits. I love that your decorating style is not guided by someone else’s opinion and you surround yourself with things that make you happy. I recently started collecting green vintage transferware. It is so fresh and perfect for spring decor. Your spring decor is wonderfulโthank you for sharing it with us!

I appreciate that Lynn, thank you. Our husbands would probably get along quite well. And enjoy talking about their attitudes regarding decor, etc. ๐ Happy Spring friend.
These spaces are next level fantastic, Cindy! I love that you’ve sprinkled so many beautiful pops of green throughout your house, They all look so warm and inviting. Plus you know I would steal that moss bunny in a heartbeat ๐ For what it’s worth, one of my girlfriends works with multi million dollar clients, and she always puts a pop of black (or dark/ebony wood) into every space. because she says it gives the eye a place to rest, and black is so elegant, it never goes out of style. Clearly, you are also timeless. Sending you hugs and wishing you a beautiful spring season, CoCo

You always know exactly what to say when someone needs a bit of encouragement, so thank you very much! I’ve always loved a touch of black but guess I went a little overboard. I told some friends the other day that I will NOT be adding any more black furniture to the house. I finally have enough! lol. Miss our chats. Happy Easter
Cindy, so many pretty things in your home. I love how you have seasonal plates hung on the wall. Love all the touches in your home for spring. Happy touring with you!
Author
Thank you Tammy. I’ve already switched some things around from when the photos were taken. LOL. I love change!
Cindy ~ Your eye for adding the “unexpected” is amazing. The plates added here and there, the artwork that seems to peek out at you in unsuspecting corners. I’m sorry, but I don’t agree with the hubby… your furniture is like Goldilocks… just right! My favorite hack is your black frame in the entryway waiting to be changed out for the seasons, it’s simply genius my friend! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home and ideas. This spring blog hop was fun to do with you my friend! Happy Spring!

Aww, thank you Melanie, you made my day! I’ll make sure and tell the mister what you said. LOL! Happy Spring.
I came over to link-up to Farmhouse Friday, but got to see all these lovely ideas instead! Wonderful, my friend! Love your spring home! I especially love the frame in the entryway that is changed for each season!

Yeah. This week something had to give and it was the link party. So glad you like the post though! Our people are crazy creative. Hope you have a great weekend Julie.
I’m here for what is old is new again! Your home tour looks fabulous! I especially love your plate wall. So pretty! Have the best spring, Cindy!

When I read that I wondered if “I” was the same. How can I become new again – without surgery! ๐ Thanks so much Kim.
I love how you decorate and if we decorated the way some designers want us to it would be so dull ! Love all your vintage items and how you decorate with them, thanks so much and have a wonderfully blessed day.

I agree with you Marlene – so dull! Thank you for the sweet compliment. You always make me smile. Happy spring!
Cindy, your home is amazing and I just love your vintage spring decor. I donโt think you can ever have too much furniture โ so tell your hubby itโs perfectly fine and your friends think it looks fabulous! You shared so many great ideas, and I love how you used what you already have, then simply added a touch of greenery and a few sweet bunnies to welcome spring. It all looks beautiful.
Author
I am definitely going to tell him what you said Wendy! And I appreciate the wonderful encouragement. Happy spring friend.
Everything about this is perfect, Cindy. I love your story-telling, I love your attention to details, I love that you are staying true to what YOU love (and I think the person who said that to you was a one-off!). There are soooo many unique details in your home, and it all looks perfectly curated to combine for a style that is absolutely timeless. I love the vintage feels with the cozy farmhouse touches… your home is so welcoming and I’m sure your hospitality gift is put to good use here – and I’m sure God is using your home to allow others to feel welcome and at home, too! This is a house I’d love to visit any time! Thank you for sharing your talent!

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU KATE! What a wonderful comment. I really enjoy hosting others and hope I glorify the Lord in all of it. You are the best. Thanks again. BTW, if you ever visit Dallas TX, let me know – You are ALWAYS invited.
I am so glad you are ignoring the negativity and doing your own thing! I love your black accents mixed in with all of your green vintage treasures. That rose lamp is amazing and that big green mossy bunny is so cute too!
You are doing a great job reusing your spring decor in new ways with your everyday items, because it all looks new and fresh to me and I am a regular reader. I just love how a little creativity and collections of vintage items make our homes unique! Your plate gallery wall is stunning!
Beautiful tour, my friend! Happy spring!

You always know how to make a girl smile and feel better. Thank you so much. I really enjoy mixing things up. And the rose lamp is one of my favorites. Got it from the quirkiest, cutest little lady that called herself Junker Val. I think of her all the time. Hope you have a beautiful weekend. Miss chatting with you.
I love everything. I donโt think you have too much furniture!
Author
You have no idea how encouraged I am by you saying that! And I’m telling the mister asap. Thank you so much!
Unless I am trapped by a chair or sofa, I will never believe we have enough furniture! LOL! Your home is gorgeous, Cindy, and I love how you styled the spaces with such charm. Thanks for an amazing tour!
Author
I literally laughed out loud at your trapped by furniture comment! I’ve added a hutch to the entry – LOLOL Thank you so much Missy.
You’ve got some fantastic finds and true finesse in styling your collections, Cindy. As a dishaholic, I love plates used in decor like you have in your dining room. The bookcase is another favorite of yours I just love. I recently added some plates to the wall over my kitchen sink and my granddaughter asked, “Mimi, why do you have plates on the wall?” I can see I have my work cut out in teaching the 4 yr old about grandma cottagecore!
Author
LOL, I love that you can teach her about cottagecore. She may love helping with your booth one day! Wouldn’t that be fun?! Thank you for the extra sweet comment. You always make me smile.
Cindy I am OBSESSED with your handmade lampshade! Your entire tour has delighted my heart.
Author
That is very nice of you to say Laura. Thank you! I usually has a pink ribbon around the shade as well but I needed it for one of the bunnies and it was the perfect length. I know you get that! ๐
I can’t tell you how much I love this post!!!! You have inspired me to get out some of my ducks and baskets. I am loving the way my home fits me and makes me smile. I love the black furniture and accessories. It helps to ground the neutrals yet gives a punch. Thanks so much for sharing!
Author
If you could see my face, you’d see a huge grin on it. Thank you! I’m so excited that you were inspired to get your ducks and baskets out. I know it will look fantastic and scream KATHY even more! You’ve blessed my heart mentioning the black furniture too. Hope you have a wonderful weekend as you dig out some of those treasures!
LOLing about you and the Mister asking you about furniture moving!! I drag junk home and the Mr. says, “burn pile?”, and I say…I can sell that for a lot of $! You’d think our 30+ years of marriage would have that figured out by now, right? By God’s grace;) I’m thrilled our love of vintage is trendy again…especially since I’m starting to sell again;) Loved your tour, and that green shutter is the bomb.
Author
Yes, only by God’s grace!
When I put a couple of frames out on the porchette, he said you’re putting those outside? I only said yes. I was in no mood to explain why frames on a porch would look amazing. ๐ I didn’t know you sold things. I’m going to have to do a little digging to find out where!
Cindy, I love your spring decor! I know how you feel about all the people going thrifting and now the prices have skyrocketed…. I’m glad I found things over these past 20-30 years before the prices shot upwards. ๐ Love your easy chairs!!
Happy spring!

Me too! I’m excited to have been collecting for years and filled my home with things I love. Every once in a while I find a great deal and snatch it up, but for the most part, I am content with our home and not worried about having to fill it to “keep up with the trend”. Happy spring Barb!
