Our Neutral Farmhouse Christmas Living Room

Spread the love

Good Morning Friends!  We went down to Navasota last week and decorated the living room for Christmas.  The last time I posted the farmhouse for Christmas it was all kinds of red, festive, farmhouse and fun.  You can see it by clicking here if you’d like.  This year we went all nat-ur-al.  So here’s our Neutral Farmhouse Christmas Living Room.

Doesn’t it look cozy?! See all the touches of white, woods and greens?  Aaaahhh, I love it!  If I hadn’t been scared for being judged as an over-zealous-jungle-lovin-plant lady, I would have added more greens.  More more more!  I could sit in here all day!

The Coffee Table

I’m glad I never got around to painting the foot locker.  I love the gray, the rust and hints of green on the edges.  The wire basket is perfect for the pinecones along with the fresh cut greens from the pastures.

You should have seen me out there on the four wheeler.  It has a laundry basket tied to the front.  It’s for the dogs and I couldn’t tell those little sad faces no so I carried a garbage bag along with me and filled it up with clippings.  So much fun!

I realize I went a little crazy with the greens.  I added tiny bunches tied together on practically every little thing I could.  Some of you may have wondered why I added fresh greenery to candles.  Again, that’s the whole more more more thing.  I’ll be extra careful to watch the flames and wicks when they are lit.

I kept the same elements throughout the room.  Like the silver vintage jello molds and the galvanized metal lantern.  The burlap bases on the small table top trees with the twine that secures the stems on the candles and bed springs.  Repeating the same colors all over the room helps keep the neutral farmhouse vibe I was going for.

The Shelf

The shelf hanging above the sofa and chair is probably my favorite area.  It’s chock full of vintage goodies mixed with the garland which is the only new item up there.   It came from Kerr’s Home in Montgomery TX.  The wooden trees are from Home Goods but I’ve had those a couple of years now.

The Left Side Of The Living Room

One of my favorite pieces is this antique desk we use as a side table.  It has a great view of the diet pasture.  That’s what we call the small pasture right in front of the house.  If you don’t know this, horses and donkey’s graze ALL day long and can get fat quickly which is dangerous for them.  So sometimes they go in there where they can’t eat themselves to death.  Is that TMI?

The Antique Side Table

Christmas books, wooden house and pinecones

Back to decorating.  Using vintage green books mimics the fresh stems and I spread out kept the wooden elements as well.  Can you see a theme?  White, green, and natural wood tones?

The little wooden house is also from Home Goods.  I bet they have them next year but if you want any start shopping for Christmas early!  They go fast.  I didn’t know if I wanted it but being a frequent Home Goods gal I knew to put it in my basket until I decided.  Minutes later I had two different ladies ask me if I was going to take it.  Being the sweet person I am, I politely said yes but was thinking if they touched my wooden house I was going to start pinching and pulling some hair out.  Just sayin.

The Handmade Stool/Side Table

I told you I put fresh greens everywhere.  Even in the antique whatchamacallit.  I think it was a mirror at one time but I fill it with dried lavender during spring and summer.  I stays empty for fall then greenery heaven during the winter.

That’s our neutral farmhouse Christmas living room!  When I finally got it all finished, I said “Alexa, play Christian Christmas music”.  She obliged and I sat down and sang my little heart out.  The song Come Thou Long Expected Jesus came on and I may or may not have stood up, put my hands over my heart and had a tear run down my cheek.  Then just when I thought I was going to start on the dining room, A Strange Way To Save The World came on and that was it.  I was crying like a baby.

I really hope each of you have a wonder filled Christ centered magical Christmas.  His coming is the whole reason we rejoice and celebrate this holiday.  Oh how I love my Jesus.

I love it! And I love how those beautiful hymns were part of your ‘decorating day’! What better way to bring in Christmas Joy than to sing about Him?

    Hi Cindy,

Love this so much. It’s very peaceful and cozy. I’m happy you didn’t paint the foot locker too. I love it in it’s natural state. You watchimacalit looks magical.

The farmhouse needed some attention and that is exactly what you did , she looks so pretty and ready for Christmas. Those song do the same thing to me just fills me up and makes me smile and cry, i love Christmas and all it means, the love and peace our dear Saviour gives to us. Have a wonderful warm and Merry Christmas.

The poor little farmhouse definitely needed some love. It had been a while. And we are on the same page with the season and the music. Hymns seem to get sung a little slower and we hear the words a bit more. Touches my heart even thinking about it. Thank you for the visit and kindness Marlene. Merry Christmas.

I love all the greens! Every time we take a walk I bring home more myself. Some I replace, some I add. Love the green, white and greys. If I didn’t feel so guilty not using all the reds I have, I’d do the same. I think I’d even leave it longer than a day or two after Christmas if I did. Merry Christmas season, Cindy!

I’m the same Rita. I bring home fresh greens anytime I can. And I will definitely keep this up passed Christmas. At least that was the plan.

Love it! Reminded me of my tall white wood candlesticks that I can add to my mantle. I don’t have access too real greenery. Sigh. Keep on with your decorating ideas!! Merry Christmas.

Will do and thanks Patricia. If there are any tree farms or stores that sell Christmas trees; you should be able to find real greens. If not faux are just fine! Glad you got an idea today. I love inspiring people.

Love the calm neutrals, Cindy; so pretty. You can never have too many fresh greens…and they’re free!! I went driving all by myself tonight to enjoy some snowy country roads and Christmas lights. I listened to Christian Christmas music and had to slow down for several reindeer…er, deer;) Just what I needed to focus on the Real Meaning of the season.

    • December 14, 2019 / 2:04 am

That sounds like a wonderful evening Lora. I’ve never been at the farmhouse when it snowed. I’d love love love to see it. Merry Christmas friend.
