Now that my thoughts drift to fall and cooler days, I’ve been thinking about our porchette. Each year, I like to do something different. This year, I’m at a loss, so off to Pinterest I go. Here are some photos I found that I thought would make great ideas when decorating a small porch for fall.
Great Ideas When Decorating A Small Porch For Fall
I’ve written about this before, so if you’d like to see that post, click here. It’s been very popular over the years.
A couple of these photos will look like they are inside and not on a porch. That’s because those ideas are fun too. We are thinking outside the box today, so our porches will be the talk of the street. Also, some of these images were found on Pinterest but come from Instagram. I’ll link them underneath each photo.

I love this idea because of all the many things you could stack inside a piece of luggage. Besides pumpkins, how about a framed fall print or a lantern? And if you don’t have luggage, you could use crates or hay bales.
Lorri Vandermark – IG
This picture is technically of Lorri using this basket inside her home, but it would be the perfect size if you only have one small corner on a porch or stoop. You could also use a barrel or a tall aluminum can and work it the same way. And if you choose colors from your indoor decor, you’ll tell visitors what to expect when they walk in. So fun!
Sugar Maple Farmhouse
I realize this is a large porch, but what if you used only the faux tree instead? If that seems crowded, one tree and two pumpkins would be awesome. Or using one tree with a potted plant, and one pumpkin? Remember to use odd numbers when grouping items. That rule works outside just like it does inside your home.
Renovate Fix
Here’s another non-porch idea. Let’s say you only have a stoop and no room to put anything where you stand. This idea will be adorable! Hang a wire basket next to your door (on the door would work just as well) and fill it with gourds, pumpkins, dried leaves, or a bushel of wheat. What a happy greeting!

Do you have room for a wheelbarrow? Like the suitcases above, you can fill them with so many autumn pieces. I love that the items are sitting higher inside the wheelbarrow because it’s stuffed with straw. That’s genius!
Stephanie Freygang – IG
If you don’t have a wheelbarrow, what about trying a wagon? If you don’t have room on the porch for either of them, maybe you could add one somewhere in the garden bed? I’d love to see that as I drove by.
Lora Bloomquist
If your porch is small and you can’t spread out, think about going up! I love how Lora hung a shelf above her small table and filled them both with Autumn treasures.
The Art of Doing Stuff
Here’s another idea of you need to go up instead of out. Use a ladder! Plants, pumpkins, veggies, blankets, or a garland would look fabulous sitting on a ladder. It doesn’t have to be a split ladder. You could also use one that leans on the wall too.
County Road 407
I’m sharing this idea from my own porchette. It’s small but mighty. Especially with so much stuff crammed into the corner. LOL. Try putting a chair or stool outside. Use a blanket and pillow, or if you are only using a stool, a simple mum or pumpkin on top will look darling.
Did these great ideas when decorating a small porch for fall get your wheels turning? Have you come up with something you can incorporate? Maybe you have a large porch, but have a friend who could use some assistance. Share one or two of these ideas with them and look like the best friend ever. Thanks for stopping by and happy fall decorating!

Well those are alot of good ideas. I dont decorate till September but thinking of how I am going to make my small porch look large!!! Let the decorating begin…I usually start with Sunflowers and apples, then progress into Fall leaves and pumpkins. It is a process….lol!!😊

I’ve always thought Sunflowers were the perfect transition to fall. I’ve never thought about apples but that is a fantastic idea. Plus the smell is wonderful! Enjoy the process Lorri. 🙂
Love these unique ideas for decorating a small porch which is exactly what we have! Thank you for the fall inspiration. I’m really needing fresh ideas this year. The wire baskets could have a lot of potential, so we may be seeing one of those on my porch! Hugs!

Thanks Michelle. I was on Pinterest looking for fresh ideas as well. I need something different! It’s hard getting motivated to do anything out there when it’s hot.
