Spread the love

Hello friends!  Where have the days gone?  It’s hard to believe this is our last Lifestyle of Love hop for the year and yikers, it snuck up on me.  This month most of my blogging creatives were understandably busy so it’s the 3 of us sharing why we love our treasures and why it’s a lifestyle for us and not just a trendy thing to do.  This month’s theme is any collection.  So my post is 5 delightful ways to use a cherished bottle collection.

If you’ve landed here from Le Cultivateur, welcome!  Wasn’t her collection of Santa’s amazing?!  I love everything she does.  If you didn’t know this, Emily has quite the gift for tablescapes too.

5 Delightful Ways to Use a Cherished Bottle Collection

At first, my mind was preoccupied making me think I didn’t really collect anything so I asked my husband.  He had the most ridiculously judgmental look on his face and nearly busted a gut at the question.  As I stood there just staring at him (maybe with a glare of my own) and when he finally composed himself, he said, do you really want me to answer that?

Of course I said no.  Duh.  I wasn’t in the mood for his sass although he did jar my memory.  And like a lightbulb, I realized I did have a collection (or 3 or 4).  All I had to do was open the drawer to see all of the vintage pillowcases or look in the box with all of the mismatched silverware or open the doors on the bottom of the hutch to see the stacks of dishes.  How exciting!

One of my favorite and most used collections are the many bottles sitting around.  You can see at least one bottle out at all times in both our everyday home and at the farmhouse.  I love them and honestly feel if others would just understand how fabulous they are, we’d have a much smaller landfill issue.

As you’ve been reading through, did you notice the photos above?  There are so many different things you can do with bottles.

Here are the 5 simple ways I enjoy using them.

clear bottles with flowers hanging from rod with ball lightsIdea #1 – Hang them outdoors for extra lighting or added beauty.

The first way isn’t the most obvious.  Try hanging them!  Yep, I said hang them.  You can make a rod or purchase a rod like mine or use hooks or branches to string bottles on.  They look happy and the aesthetic is always pleasing.  You can always add twinkle lights for extra lighting as well.

3 amber bottles with dried flowers as a table centerpieceIdea #2 – Use them as a vessel for dried flowers

The easiest reason to keep them around is to hold dried flowers.  Use an odd number to make the biggest impact.  My preference when using only one bottle, is to use a large flower like a hydrangea or peony.  But much like a bud vase, one single stem works too.

If you have a collection of something that means a lot to you.  It will make a bigger impact if you keep them all together.  I tend to favor spreading things around the room but if you’d rather keep them in the same place, vary the height for a better visual statement.

Using bottles to hold candles is one if the prettiest ideas.  It can be one single bottle or a grouping but it never fails to get compliments.

I know, this is kind of like the vessel for the dried flowers but I needed another idea because 5 sounds better than 4.  LOL!  And at least it’s a beautiful one.  Especially when you can see the water inside.  It’s almost mesmerizing.

Just in case you’re wondering if I’m still collecting bottles, the answer is of course!  I’m still collecting vintage pillow cases too.  And if I come across a plate that I can’t live without, not to worry, I’ll find a place for it.

So many beautiful ways to use bottles, Cindy! I love that they’re so versatile and can be used throughout the year and in every season too. It makes them budget-friendly and worth storing if you have small closets like we do. Can’t wait to start a collection of my own now! Thanks so much for putting this hop together and for being our fearless leader. You’re such a treasure! Sending you tons of hugs for a happy Christmas, CoCo

the best thing about collecting bottles is that you have an automatic centerpiece and display, no matter the season or theme. Greenery and florals grouped together in multiples is always so beautiful and simple. Hanging them is another level of interest. Hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas Season, Cindy. Thanks for helping keep blogging so much fun!

I love blogging. Even when I have a slump of creativity. And you are so right on the automatic centerpiece. I never tire of using them that way. Happy Christmas!

I never thought to put candles in them, so thanks and have a Merry Christmas.

Plopping a candle in a bottle is a great solution when you have tapers. Especially if they aren’t dripless. It’s easy to get the wax off the outside of the bottle. Thanks for the visit Marlene. Hope you’re enjoying this holiday season. Happy Christmas!

Such great ideas to display pretty bottles. I love the amber ones and have a few, so I need to create a pretty vignette and showcase them. All of your vignettes are stunning

okay…I think I gotta ask hubs that question sometime, too ;0 He’ll say…what DON’T you collect?? Bottles…yes! Brown ones, aqua ones, green ones, clear, red… think I need to get one of those rods to hang over a table, so I could hang all mine. Love that idea; so special and festive:) Great post!

Ask at your own risk. LOL! I usually refrain from discussing anything about decor or thrifting or colors or helping me hang anything on the wall or the temperature in the house. Thanks bunches Lora. Happy Christmas. Oh! And you will LOVE the bar over the table. It’s magical!
