Spring Garden Decor and a Pinterest Challenge

Spread the love

Hey there!  Do you remember what day it is?  It’s Pinterest Challenge Day!  And today is filled with spring inspiration.  I am always so excited about these posts.  We all gain so many great ideas.  Let’s start off with my post – Spring Garden Decor and a Pinterest Challenge.  If you’ve hopped over from Cloches and Lavender, welcome!  I’m excited you’ve stopped by.

Spring Garden Decor and a Pinterest Challenge

The way a Pinterest Challenge works is we have one inspiration photo and each of us create something similar that works with our own style.  This month our inspiration photo comes from Jill over at Create Craft Love.  Her garden hose wreath screams spring!  I love the bright happy colors and how striking it looks against her door.

When I look at Jill’s photo, I see a green hose, bright colored faux flowers, garden gloves and a bow. I checked my decor closet and didn’t have anything I needed.  I don’t garden, we didn’t have a hose that wasn’t in use and all the faux flowers were sitting in bottles around the house.  Luckily, Dollar Tree was still open and I was able to find everything I needed.  Maybe I should have planned ahead and been a bit more organized?  LOL!  That’s not me at all!

materials used for hat wreath

Here is what I started with.  I planned to put all of this on my hat wreath.  As you will see, I didn’t use all of the items shown in the photo.  The hat was small (kid sized) and the tiny brim would only hold so much.  Plus, I knew I wanted to use the garden gloves and faux flowers for sure.  Here’s how it turned out.  DON’T LAUGH!  You know I’m not crafty!

Hat wreath with gloves, bow and flowers

After all that hot gluing, are you thinking what I’m thinking – well that would fit on a small window but would look dinky on a door?  It’s okay.  I realized that when I didn’t have anywhere to put the seed packets.  But you can see similar elements used in the inspiration garden hose wreath above.  The hat is green like the hose.  It also has bright faux flowers, garden gloves and a bow.

A gift my mother will love

Since it’s not really an appropriate size for front door decor, I got a small garden wreath hanger that pokes into the ground to use instead.  She has a small area next to her front door where it will bring a smile to all who see it or it’s possible that passers by could laugh but I live an hour away so thankfully I won’t hear them.  😉

Mom will love it.  She’s super sweet like that and she’s extremely fond of bright colors.  Plus, she won’t care that it cost a whole $5 bucks!  Gotta love Dollar Tree!  If you need something to do while we are stuck at home for a while, here’s a list of item’s you’ll need.  Affiliate links provided as well for your convenience.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I always enjoy having my friends around.  Now it’s time to pop in and see what Lora B. has done.  I am swooning already because that girl is clever!  Don’t forget to check out all the Pinterest Challenges and see how they turned out.

Happy Spring Decorating Friends!

Love the idea of using a green hat Cindy! So pretty with the bright pink mix of colors too! Even if your mom doesn’t hang it up it will look cute sitting on a table.

Your spring wreath made with a hat is very cute. You met the challenge. I have a lady’s straw hat but it’s “straw colored.” But I will put flowers and a big bow on it, and maybe a pack or two of seeds (or at least the packet) and make something pretty for my basement door which can be seen from our road. Be happy with your little green hat!

I would love to see a straw hat with seed packets. I love that idea and hope to find a straw hat one day so I can make one. Post a pic on IG when you’ve made yours! Thanks for the visit Barbara! I always appreciate it.

You are sweet Barbara. I do think mom will like it. If she can pry it from my grubby hands. It’s grown on me and I like it too now. LOL!

How adorable! This little sweet hat reminded me of when my mom used to gussy me up for Easter with a new hat like this, a new dress, white gloves and black patent shoes! Those were the days:) Maybe those memories will be what makes your mom smile when you send this her way! So sweet.

    • March 24, 2020 / 2:49 pm

Awe, I remember those days. I loved getting an Easter dress with a hat and gloves. Good times, good times. Thank you for the memory. That made my day. 🙂

My pleasure Carol. I am loving the fact we can’t go to the store and have to use what we already have. I know our readers will appreciate it as well.

Mom’s always love what their kids make; it’s mandatory, but your Mom will love this hat with its cheerful colors. We had 6″ of snow here in Maine this a.m. and your bright colors made me smile. I often use hats for “wreathes” and love the effect.

    • March 25, 2020 / 1:00 pm

Wow, more snow! I honestly can’t imagine that. Glad you liked the hat wreath. Hope spring comes to you soon and thanks for stopping by Kathy!

Never fear , Cindy! I love that you know me so well. It is so fabulously Spring that I’m not sure where to display it the green hat, flowers and gloves; the beautifully contrasting bow. I LOVE it!!! And I LOVE you! So clever, so sweet, such a purely kind heart. If you weren’t mine I’d have to adopt you! 🌸💕💚🌷

    • March 26, 2020 / 9:16 pm

LOL. Glad you like it. I have something else to go with it that’s perfect! Hope you get it sooner than later. Happy Birthday!
