How to add vintage charm for a stupendous spring porch!

Hello my friends.  Are you ready for warmer, sunnier days?  Maybe ready to rake the leaves, plant flowers and draft a plan for a tantalizing yard?  What about the porch?  I began planning by looking back at some of my favorite pieces which brought me to how to add vintage charm for a stupendous spring porch so we’d have more motivation.

How To Add Vintage Charm For A Stupendous Spring Porch!

With spring on the brain and bright happy color in my heart, I’m eager to clean and fluff up the porchette here at home but even more so at the farmhouse.  I’ve not been down there since October!

If you’ve ever looked at the Farmhouse Friday posts, the top graphic in those posts is of the porch at the country house.  I see that photo every week so I dream about sitting there wasting the days away – a lot.

See what I mean?!  It’s so tranquil.  Just looking at it makes me feel like the temperatures are always 75 degrees even though that is complete fiction.  Anyway, let me share some of the repurposed pieces I might use on the porch this year to keep it cozy and full of character.

The mister and I made the bench out of an antique full-size bed.  That was before my blogging days so we didn’t take photos.  But you can find a (not mine) DIY repurposed bed project on Pinterest or YouTube if you’d like.  I keep saying I need to make a cushion for it but never do.  Maybe this is the year?!  LOL!

3 vintage galvanized buckets with pink flowersUse Out of the box containers for plants and flowers for vintage charm.

I’m pretty sure I’ll use galvanized buckets for flowers and plants.  Those are a staple at the farmhouse and I love each and every one.  This post was a Pinterest Challenge.  If you’d like to see it and what everyone else did, click here.

If you’re out shopping and find a vintage baby tub, grab it!  I’ve been able to use this for so many things.  Extra pillows, quilts, flowers, pumpkins, ice and drinks.  It’s super handy.

When I purchased this antique baby cradle (I think that’s what it is), I never thought it would be one of the most useful pieces for a porch.  We’ve used it as a table to hold food and beverages as well as storing extra blankets.  It’s been used to hold plants and vases of flowers.  And I suppose you could even use it for a baby if you were a bad parent and didn’t mind that the legs could collapse causing said baby to fall out.

If we had the room, I’d move this old potting table to the porch.  We keep it out next to the firepit area so it’s easy to serve ourselves and guests when we have them.  Dress it up and make it pretty.  Any table will do but vary your heights when using a flat surface.  That will make your table so much more enticing.

Don’t forget about the timeless farmhouse decor.  This vintage toddler chair is used as a side table and even though it’s adorable on its own, it stands out with a seasonal touch.

Keeping the porch comfy with pillows that mimic a grain sack is fun.  You could also use antique pillow cases or any fabric if it looks old or better yet, is old.  Remember, we want to incorporate enduring charm.

Not sure what’s come over me but I’m actually feeling it this year and I believe the porch is going to be picture perfect.  What do you plan to do?  Did you find any inspiration?  Do you think you can do it now that you know how to add vintage charm for a stupendous spring porch?  Have any questions?  Ask away in the comments or send me an email.  I’m happy to help!

You are so funny. I giggled a bit about using the cradle is you’re a bad parent. My four year old grandson, saw the picture of your porch and said that he wants to go there. So peaceful. Hugs to you, my friend.

LOVE your farmhouse porch, Cindy. I’m like others, I need to see something for spring that looks fresh, clean and relaxing. Something that hasn’t been wallered by dirty squirrels! Happy Tuesday!!

I love your porch and all your vinage pieces. I can’t wait to get mine cleaned and ready. I do set on my swing, even in the winter if it gets nice outside. That’s what I love about my screened porch. I do have to stow away a lot of things because it gets a little dirty. I love the scenery you have out on your porch and your animals are so cute.

Oh wow, I’d love a swing! AND screens! We have so many ginormous bugs that screens would be so nice. Thanks for the sweet comments Marlene. I’m with you – let’s get it cleaned up! Happy Galentine’s Friend!
