Hello friends! It’s time for another link-up week on Farmhouse Friday 460. Only 4 more days until it’s officially fall! That means we can all go crazy for autumn everything and not feel guilty for doing so! I’m hoping it cools down enough to tackle our porchette!
And of course, it’s time to hear more about me during my birthday month of September! 🙂 If you could see me right now, I’m still in my pajamas and waiting for the Mister to bring me some lunch. Spoiled rotten should be number one on the list of – What Is Cindy Like. LOL
Number Seven: My sister and I were always driven and picked up from school by my mom. One day in middle school, I told her I wanted to ride the bus. The next day came, the bell rang, and I went to the back of the school to find my bus. To make a long dramatic story short, I chickened out and ran back through the school to see if I could find someone to take me home. You can probably guess, Mom was sitting right where she always was, waiting to see me run to the car. All she did was smile and ask how my day was.
Number Eight: I was a cheerleader in middle school. Believe me, my only qualification for the job was that I had a big mouth and loved to smile. Obviously, in my mind, I was amazing. Now I’m super grateful that back in those days we didn’t have a cellphone with a camera or video at the ready. Go Hornets!
Number Nine: My favorite subject in middle school was Homemaking. I was hooked when we made a meal for the class, had floral centerpieces at each table, set the table with placemats, cloth napkins, real plates, etc. And I remember using vintage amber colored Fostoria glasses. That was way before I knew what vintage was. I learned what it meant to host and set a nice-looking table. I was sad when they took that class out of schools (at least here in TX), but it gave me a chance to do that for my family. Good times, good times.

Is that why young adults don’t know how to cook anymore? They took homemaking skills out of school? That is where I learned the basics of cooking, my mom certainly didn’t teach me. Thanks for the party.

I enjoy reading your stories from your childhood!! I walked to grade school, I was bused and sometimes walked back home from Junior High and in high school, my Dad drove me and a car full of my friends to school as he had been injured in a construction accident and could no longer work…We took the bus home from school…I always said that my Dad would have drove me to the moon if I asked and if he could so I was the one who drove my sons , along with their friends all over the place…

I am currently changing my Living Room over from Coastal decor to Fall decor and that includes changing curtains, drapes and linens…It takes me about 6 days because I give the room a good cleaning as I strip most of the regular decor out!! I love your stories…and yes, Home Ec was the best and they took it out of school here in NY, too. Bummer…that’s where I learned to cook and sew, which frankly has come in a lot more handy over the years than finding the angle of an isosceles triangle! 🙃 Thanks so much for featuring my wreath, too!
