A Spring Vignette Stirred By Fetching Fowl

Spread the love

Now that it’s almost spring, I’m taking the opportunity to make a few changes around the house to liven things up.  I started with rearranging a few furniture pieces, followed by some deeper cleaning, and then creating vignettes in the revamped spaces.  The first one is a spring vignette stirred by fetching fowl.

Today is usually Pinterest Challenge Day, but it’s been difficult to find inspirational images on Pinterest because many are generated by AI.  From now on, our posts will be titled ‘Design Challenge.’  That way, I can make sure the images come from a real person and a genuine account.  As a bonus, we are now including other social media outlets as well.

A Spring Vignette Stirred By Fetching Fowl

If you’ve hopped over from WM Design House, welcome!  I’m excited you’re here.  We thoroughly enjoy these challenges, so I know you’ll find great inspiration from the posts below.  Wasn’t Wendy’s table, perfect?!  She hit it out of the park on this challenge!

Spring Vignette with warm brown chest and on top are plants, white urns, plates on the wall and a large swan painting in background Liz Marie Galvan via Instagram

In today’s Design Challenge, the photo comes from Liz Marie Galvan’s Instagram page.  She is one of my all-time favorite accounts and is definitely worth following.

What I notice about her photo is the grouping of white urns with green plants and flowers in varying heights.  There’s also a lamp, a candle on a riser, warm browns, and of course, you can’t miss the beautiful swan in the background.  It’s perfectly spring and so charming.

Here’s what I can incorporate from Liz’s vignette.

  • green plants in varying heights
  • a lamp
  • adorable geese
  • flowers
  • a candle on a riser
  • and a focal point in the background

I love a good theme when it comes to decorating.  Nothing extravagant or extensive.  Just one that will inspire and motivate me.  This time, it was Liz’s large swan painting as a focal point.

For my focal point, I added a vintage screen door behind the table, along with a boxwood wreath.  It’s going to help fill up the extra-tall blank wall behind the console table.

Next, I gathered my greenery, some white flowers, and figured out what I could use instead of a swan.  I gathered the couple of geese I had.  The ceramic goose was found in Butler, TX.  She’s one of my favorite fowl finds.

lamp, small goose painting on a tabletop easel with plantsSometimes two smaller geese can be just as nice as one big swan.

An easy way to create a vignette is to work on the outsides and move your way to the center.  So putting the lamp and the small painting of the goose on the opposite side makes sense.  It balances the vignette.

white candle, white pottery with faux plant and a goose

If you noticed in Liz’s picture, her usable surface is much larger than mine.  But that won’t stop me from filling it up.  Next, I began placing the greenery.  To me, plants are a great filler, and I’ve put one on each end.

black console table with green door in back and a wreath on top of it. Geese, a lamp, greenery plants, and white Babys breath in the centerI didn’t forget the little riser (under the candle) that Liz used.

The last piece to add is another thrifted find.  A green metal planter with dried Baby’s Breath.  I’m amazed at how easy it is to dry and keep that little flower.

That’s it folks.  My spring vignette stirred by fetching fowl looks similar, but not exactly like Liz’s image.  That’s the beauty in these challenges – to do what works with our home.  Oh!  And try not to use any money, which was accomplished again this month. Woohoo!

Thank you for stopping by.  Next up is my friend Cindy at DIY Beautify.  You will love her spring vignette!  Don’t forget to come back and click on the rest of my friends to see what they did.

Happy Spring Friends!

    Cindy,
Your vignette is spot on. I love all the details. Thanks for hosting.

At first I thought it was to dark but now I enjoy walking by it each day. Thank you Rachel.

I love that you renamed while adding scope for inspiration to this challenge. How clever you are. Always enjoy seeing vignettes reinterpreted. How does a simple reader like myself recognize an AI image? Maybe do a post on that?

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:21 pm

Thank you for the encouragement – it’s greatly appreciated. And I’ll think about the AI post. I fear that if I got started on AI, it would turn into a screaming conniption! You tube is one of the worst offenders. Stealing peoples hard work and imagination and never giving credit (insert rolling eyes).

So pretty! Great idea to incorporate the geese. Happy Spring!

Thank you Stacey. It’s odd how I have so many geese and ducks around. I have 5. Guess that’s a good start to a collection! LOL

Cindy, having that large green shutter really anchors your tablescape!! Baby’s Breath is such an underrated flower and it never fails to dry beautifully. Love that you were able to add the two geese to your table, too. Lovely!!!

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:25 pm

I agree on the baby’s breath. That bunch has lasted over a year and has been hit a few times but still holding on. I love how inexpensive it is too. You are right, it’s underrated! Thank you Barbara.

Cindy I fully approve of this vignette! My high school mascot was the Canadian goose. We were known as The Honkers. People often said, “A goose? That is not very intimidating.” My reply was always “Well, I guess you have never had the unlucky experience of being chased by one.” LOL
Thank you for the amazing Design Challenge!

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:48 pm

The Honkers is hilarious! I love it. When my sister and I young, my mom sewed matching (very thick polyester) shorts and halter tops for each of us. We all wore them to the duck pond. A goose chased my sister and bit her on the stomach. She had a scar for weeks! :0

Cindy, I love your interpretation of this month’s Design Challenge. The shutter in the background really pulls your eye into the arrangement. And that metal container is perfect for your space. Thank you so much for hosting.

The first and second day I thought it was dark and the table too small for the wall. I miss the large hutch being there. I have a feeling it will get changed in the next few weeks. LOL Thanks bunches Carol. Your comment brightened my day since I second guess everything.

Cindy, I love how your vignette turned out! Just lovely.

PS. I am going to start calling the birds on our lake “fowl” because I can never tell the difference between ducks and geese and always get it wrong. 🤷‍♀️

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:56 pm

LOL, we can start a club and call it the Fellow Featherbrains. 😉 Thank you Libbie. You made me feel better.

Cindy, your vignette is stunning. I love how creatively you used the old screen and wreath as the focal point for the wall—it’s such a beautiful, unexpected touch. And there’s truly nothing better than a space filled with thrifted treasures. Thank you so much for hosting; this was such a fun design challenge.

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:57 pm

Aww, thank you Wendy. You made my day. It’s hard for me not to agree about the thrifted treasures. I love each and everyone. 🙂

I love your Spring vignette and the geese used in place of the swan! Plus all the greenery adds a nice spring touch!

    • February 24, 2026 / 4:59 pm

Thanks bunches Cindy. I appreciate that. When I can get the workers out of the house and get the dust cleaned up, I’m going to enjoy it a lot more. If you could see the dining room table or the wall opposite that entry console, you’d feel sorry for me. It’s a horrible mess!

What a cute and brilliant idea to incorporate your goose figurine and artwork! Using what you love is what’s all about! And your spring vignette is simply gorgeous! Love it Cindy!

    • February 26, 2026 / 10:00 am

I will forever know now that they aren’t ducks. LOL. Thanks so much Michelle!

Your goose statue is awesome; love it! And love that green shutter door as a backdrop. So fresh for early Spring!

Your vignette is beautiful, Cindy! The duck art reminds me so much of my dad and his beautiful duck decoys. I love how you styled everything with your personal touch!
