A Simple Freestyle Wall Collage

Spread the love

Hello Friends!  Not sure you’ll believe this but… I still don’t have all the Christmas decor put away.  I know, I know.  Some of you are thinking I should give myself a break because it’s only the end of January.  Some of you are thinking, good grief child, it’s almost the end of January!  I hear ya.

Actually, you may not believe this either, but four fall dish towels were found in the deep freezer a couple of days ago!  All I could say is what the cuss?  How and why in the world were they even in there?  Seriously, why?  Does that bother you?  It makes me a little grouchy for a moment.  Just when you think everything is packed away and clutter free, boom, you find something else to clean up or put away (insert rolling eyes).

A Freestyle Wall Collage

I know it wasn’t me.  I never go in the deep freezer because I can’t get my short arms to reach down into it.  If I actually bent over far enough to get that needed rump roast, I fear I’d fall head first inside only to make whoever found me wee their britches laughing which would only make another mess for me to clean up.  No thanks.  I’ll leave the meat gettin’ to the Mister.  I guess you could say Cindy has more forethought than the average person.  😉  Yeah, let’s go with that.

Besides all that, I was planning to tell you that I worked on a wall collage today.  The empty wall we had in the family room had been bare since the Christmas decor was removed and it was time to do something with it.

Since the room seems cozier with a wall collage, I wanted to do another and really tried to use the same holes.  It worked out pretty well.  Plus, I think it turned out a little more interesting by using a narrow table and a floor clock.  It helped hide a couple of holes and make less holes for sure.

I eyeball everything and don’t like measuring (hence the freestyle).  Almost every time the Mister and I have teamed up for a project that involves hanging something on the wall it doesn’t end well.   When we measure something and he asks how long it is and I say it’s 10 feet and 3 small lines after the half inch mark, he just gets annoyed.  Then this whole spat happens.  So, I find it not worth asking for help.  Again, forethought.  And this time it’s saving my marriage.   LOL, no joke.

After getting the items together for an everyday look, I decided I could make this a seasonal wall.  So I pranced over and snatched up the Cake Pan Wreath I made and hung it up there too.  I like how it turned out and already have ideas for Easter!  The lamp base is getting painted as soon as the weather cooperates but so far so good.  I enjoy checking out my freestyle wall collage/handy work.  😉

Lessons Learned

So today friends, here are the lessons we can learn.

1.  When it’s time to put away the fall decor, search the house for a third time even looking in the deep freezer.

2.  Look again

3.  When you want to do a wall collage on your own, do it while the hubby is away.

4.  Having forethought can save a marriage and possibly your life as well.  Especially if you have short arms.

Happy Decorating!

You and me both Terri! I was thinking today that I shouldn’t feel bad considering ALL the other stuff we women have on our plate! 😉 Oh goodness, now I have that Katy Perry song stuck in my head…

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
      Dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar
      Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

      LOLOLOL!!!

    Thanks for the ideas.
    I love your floor clock.
    Where did you find it?

    • January 25, 2019 / 10:37 am

Thank you Rhonda. I got the clock at Pier 1 some years ago. I’ve had several people ask me about it. It will be easy to make so I plan on doing a tutorial for it one day soon. All you’ll need is some plywood or MDF, a jigsaw or band saw and a clock mechanism. Oh and paint. 🙂 Easy peasy!

Don’t they though? Why get all uptight about something so easy to fix or that’s not that big of a deal?! We women have to stick together and just DIOSS – Do It Our Sweet Self! Thank you Marlene

I’ll be showing how to make a clock like that soon (probably spring). But I got it years ago at Pier 1 on clearance and then an additional discount… $23.00! Say whaaaat? I know, right?! That’s crazy good! Thanks for stopping by today Katie! Much appreciated.

We are one in the same. I haven’t finished de-Christmasing either (almost though) and I don’t ask my hubby to help hang anything either, don’t want the hassle. Always enjoy your post. Tfs

We do sound the same! And you are right – it’s not worth it. Glad you enjoy the posts. It means a lot to hear that. ❤️ Thank you.

Lovely wall collage! I loved doing those, so fun! My tree is still standing and fully decorated, and most of the rest of the Christmas decor that was around the house is piled on the dining room table. A lot of it (smaller, more fragile stuff) goes in a large trunk in my son’s room and I recently opened it and got the boxes out and that is as far as I got so my son’s room is a mess! I’ve been more in the mood to go antiquing and thrifting, lol 😂.We did have a nice day recently and I took down and put away the porch decor. In my defense, I wanted to spend time with my daughter who was home from college until the 14th, and then I got a cold, and well, that’s my story (excuse) and I’m stickin to it😁, seriously though, life is too short and some things are just more important than ripping down the decor Dec. 26. Personally, I enjoy leaving it up for a while, especially the lighted tree on cold evenings. Towels in the freezer, that is hilarious! Maybe they were being used to carry something to put in the freezer and got left there?

    • January 25, 2019 / 9:56 pm

Lol. I have no clue how they got there?! It’s crazy. Sounds like you had a great time with your daughter and that is way more important. I will forever tease my mom for still having her Christmas decor out when it was Easter! That’s just tooooo long. 😂. Hope you have a nice weekend Vicki.

Just spotted your sweet blog. Love that clock so much that i purchased the very same one years ago at Pier One. I have it in my tiny 570′ foot farmhouse, but also use to use it in my tiny house on wheels. I do wish it were taller, I hang mine a few feet off the floor. The floating clock. LOL. Going to surf around your blog now. Blessings.

Awe, Thank you Tonita! That makes my day. I’ve moved the clock around several times. It’s usually in the kitchen but I’m liking it’s new spot. I’m actually planning to make a similar clock as a DIY. I think I’ll make it taller though. It’s height has always been a disappointment. Thanks for visiting today and hope you come again! ❤️
