Happy day friends!  It’s Pinterest Challenge time and today we are all sharing ornaments.  I always love this time of the month because my friends are brilliant and so creative!  As we click through to see what everyone has shared you’ll see a few of my treasured and super easy DIY Christmas ornaments that were actually made some time ago.

A few of my treasured and super easy DIY Christmas ornaments!

If you’ve hopped over from Peacock Ridge Farm, thank you!  I’m so glad you’ve stopped by.  Wasn’t Renae’s pretty gold bell ornament beautiful?  I love the reflection it gets from the lights on her tree.  If you aren’t familiar with a Pinterest Challenge, it’s a ton of fun.  We all look at one inspiration photo and turn it into something that works for us and our own individual style – except this month.  ๐Ÿ˜‰  This time we aren’t using an inspo photo.  Instead, all of our photos are inspiration for everyone!  ๐Ÿ˜‰

You may have seen my favorite ornaments before.  I’m not sure I could go a year without using them somewhere or on at least one of my trees.  Believe me, I’ve tried.  But once you see them, I think you’ll understand why.

See what I mean?!  How cute is that?!  Each year when it’s time to pull out the Christmas trees, I blast Christmas music throughout the house, drive everyone crazy because it’s not quite Thanksgiving, then start the assembly and fluffing.  If it weren’t for the little white gloves that come with our beautiful trees from King of Christmas, I’d hate that job. Seriously.

As I’m singing along to the tunes I come up with a theme or at least the colors I want to implement while trying to use what I already have.  It’s not that difficult when you’re my age, have been decorating for years, and you have an attic full of Christmas crap treasures.  Honestly, most years are very similar because the digging is overwhelming and once again I didn’t do what I intended which was organize the attic before putting away the Christmas decor.  #organizinggoals

All that said, I wholeheartedly tell myself I’m not going to use my DIY Silverware Christmas ornaments because I used them last year and the year before that and the year before that.  I add the ribbon, the picks and so many other ornaments but when I step back to view the awesomeness, a little piece of my heart sinks.

I love my silverware ornaments!

They look tarnished and every once in a while I’ll polish them up before hanging.  Lately, I like the tarnished look.  Not sure if it’s because I’m being lazy or if it’s that I notice the details a little more.

I say they’re a DIY ornament because it takes a sturdy steel rod and some muscle to bend the handles.  That’s all you do to make these beauties!  See?  Easy peasy!  If you didn’t want to bend them you could drill a small hole on the handle just large enough for ribbon to fit through.  I’ve used velvet and a sheer polyester ribbon.  Have even used twine or regular ornament hooks as well.

On occasion, I’ve added live greenery and that turns out very nice.  And as you can see I add pinecones or other treats inside the silver creamers for added festiveness.  One day I may embellish a few pieces.  Maybe with some buttons, pearls or tiny sequins.  We’ll see.

Well there are a few of my treasured and super easy DIY Christmas ornaments.  Am I crazy to love them so much?  Do you think it’s odd to use silverware?  It’s okay to tell me.  It won’t hurt my feelings.  I’ve been called an oddball before and quite like it.  Ha!  And I have to say, they look fantastic on my King of Christmas tree!  I love the way they sparkle when the lights come on in the evening.  Makes it so much nicer walking in from an ugly garage.

These are so adorable! I love them with the cream velvet ribbon. I’d love to add something like this to our foyer tree by the dining room. Love the casual elegance. Yes, the gloves that come with the King of Christmas tree are amazing.

Thank you Christy. Your tree by the dining room would look amazing with silverware! You’ll get a lot of compliments on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

These are so pretty Cindy! I’ve hung ironstone creamers and plates on a tree, so I don’t find this weird at all! I love how the silver reflects the twinkle lights!

    • November 22, 2022 / 10:05 am

Ironstone is a wonderful idea. If I weren’t afraid of them crashing down and breaking, I’d do it. But now you’ve got my mind whirling with ideas! Thank you

Cindy, nope! You aren’t crazy, just creative!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ My friend Kathy in California used to do the same thing on one of her white Christmas trees, with hanging silverware and creamers and sugars. It’s stunning!!! Her home was all-white and gorgeous! I bet your tree is stunning, too! Thanks for a fun, creative theme this month. <3

Happy Thanksgiving, happy decorating, and happy crafting,

Thank you Barbara. I would love an all white house but would have to live by myself. Her tree sounds gorgeous as well. I’m hunting for more silver each year so I’m glad to hear I’m not crazy.

Cindy, I LOVE your silverware ornaments! I decorated a mini tree in my office last with her antique dessert forks that were my grandmother’s and I made metal-stamped silver spoons for this Pinterest Challenge. Vintage silver makes perfect tree decor in my opinion!

    Thanks for hosting,
    Niky

I noticed your spoon when I was putting this together and thought it was darling. I’ve done this for years but for some reason this year I was second guessing myself. I think because I never see it anywhere and it sure won’t ever be trending. LOL. Thanks bunches Niky.

LOVE love your silverware ornaments, Cindy!!! Several years ago I did a “Silver Sugar and Creamer” tree that I absolutely loved. It’s all still packed away after 4 years, though. The flocking is gorgeous and really makes for an elegant vintage look. Happy Thanksgiving Cindy!!

    • November 22, 2022 / 10:23 am

Thanks so much Debra! I think you should unpack that tree. I’d love to see it. I’m always on the look out for more silver to add to mine so one day it will be full full full! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. November 22, 2022 / 10:37 am

Adorable, Cindy. I absolutely see why you can’t NOT use them!! They are so unique…I’ve never seen anything like them before. Those little creamers and sugars are just so cute!!

    • November 22, 2022 / 10:58 am

Yes! So glad someone else sees why I must use them! Thank you Rachel. The tiny creamers and sugar bowls are from a child’s set. Happy Thanksgiving!

Little treasures indeed! What a great way to display these silver pieces by having them out for all to enjoy. Plus they really do look lovely on your tree. The child size creamer and sugar bowl are just precious!

I’m glad someone else agrees with me. When my family first saw me do this years ago, they thought I had lost it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Happy Thanksgiving Mimi!

My pleasure Carol. All of these ideas make me want to be a better crafter!

Tarnish helps you see all the details more; you hit the nail on the head! That’s why I like tarnished silver. You’re brilliant and this is beautiful. Planning on using my silver in the dining room with my red transferware this year; woot!

    • November 22, 2022 / 11:07 pm

Oh my word Lora, silver with your red transferware is going to be stunning! I still can’t find any red and white anywhere! Looking forward to seeing. Thanks for making my day with your sweet comment too. Happy Thanksgiving!

But they are beautiful and so shiny. What is Christmas if we can’t use the things we love on our trees. So keep on smiling every time you walk by it. Happy Thanksgiving!!

    • November 25, 2022 / 10:21 pm

Exactly Marlene! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and full of laughter. I think that was the best part of our get together. I love hearing all the laughter. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cindy I am back for like the 4th time, every time I would start leaving a comment I got sidetracked!

I love your ornaments and I would use them every year! Years ago I did a junk tree when I was obsessed with tarnished silverplate and I had a few spoons and little creamers hanging on my tree. I still have some tarnished silverplate so I would love to try stamping them after seeing yours. Vintage flatware just has some of the prettiest designs, making them perfect ornaments! Such a great upcyle!

Thanks so much for hosting the hop!

    • December 1, 2022 / 11:30 pm

You are so sweet and thank you so much. I understand about being sidetracked. It happens to me so often! It could be days before I get back to it. And I think you should totally do a silver tree in your kitchen! It would be gorgeous!

  17. December 8, 2022 / 11:27 am
