5 Blissful Ways to Add Coziness At Home During Winter

Spread the love

Hello my homies!  The weatherman said it was about to get cold here in Texas.  He said really cold for us and super cold for the rest of the country.  We may even get snow!  So just in case, I’m going to err on the side of caution which means getting extra groceries and washing all the blankets.  And since I could be stuck at home, I’m going to use that time to decorate!  If you like that too, here are 5 blissful ways to add coziness at home during winter.

Besides warm soups and having the fireplace going there are little extras that I feel are important for comfort.  If you do other things in your home that aren’t mentioned below, please tell me in the comments.  I love hearing from you!

Most of us probably think blankets, quilts, and throws are the first step for warm snuggles but let’s take that one step further.  How about adding a warm slip cover to the furniture too?  That’s the first way to add extra coziness this season.  I have a couple of different fabrics and colors and they’ve held up quite well with several washings.  Try suede, fleece, wool or velvet.  Think extra softness.

Next is heavier curtains.  I change mine out right before Christmas and they stay up through winter.  Besides being pretty, it gives the area in front of the windows an extra boost of warmth.  If you buy them online, be prepared to adjust the length. I’ve purchased 2 sets and both came with incorrect lengths.  One was too long and like the ones above – to short.  These should be barely skimming the floor.  :/

Layer your rugs or add one over carpet.  The room above is pretty as is but doesn’t it look warmer and more cozy with a wool rug on top of the jute rug?  The extra pattern and texture creates a lived-in look which also makes it more cozy.

Even though the Mister doesn’t love throw pillows, I do.  I need them if I want my feet to touch the ground when I sit on the sofa.  As I type this out I can hear my mother singing “short people got no reason” to me.  But not only are extra pillows helpful, they always give off the cozy vibes.

Don’t forget about the bedroom!  Layer on those extra quilts and blankets and mix and match the patterns.  Extra pretty pillows wouldn’t hurt either.  The only downside to an extra comfy bed is not wanting to get out of it.  Especially if you have a heated blanket underneath all the pretties.

As a bonus, I would suggest using only ambient lighting in your living spaces.  Overhead lighting is harsh and definitely not cozy.  Have at least 3 lamps in your living area and bedrooms.  We have 5 in our living room but there are 3 lamps in the kitchen and one in each bathroom.  Consider adding sconces or string lights if you prefer.  Even using candles is pretty.  Ambient lighting takes any room from humdrum to homey in an instant.

We could all use the comfy feels so I hope you found these 5 Blissful Ways to Add Coziness At Home During Winter helpful and easily doable.

I like the coziness but not the gloomy, cloudy days. I’d love it if all the cold days were sunny though. Happy winter Renae!

Yes! Baking is one of my favorite things to keep things cozy. Not only for the smell but also the warmth from the oven. Our kitchen gets cold with all those hard surfaces. Thank you for adding those and for the comment! I don’t do much for Valentine’s Day but I’m about to add some pink around here as well which I’ve never done. At the farmhouse yes, but not here in our everyday home. I’m really looking forward to it. Happy weekend Eva!

Lovely ideas, Cindy! I do love me some good blankets and cozy lighting this time of year. It’s about to get REAL cold here in the Northland…below zero temps starting tomorrow! Stay cozy!

Yikers Rachel! Hope you are ready! Do y’all go outside or do something fun inside? People in TX can’t drive in icy conditions. Including me so staying in is preferred. Playing games, lighting candles and redecorating the house will be so fun! Stay warm and thank you for the visit.

I couldn’t believe how cold it was this morning when I took the garbage cans to the curb. I think that was a 50 degree drop! Stay warm Carol and thanks so much.

That exactly what I was doing yesterday was adding some cozy to my house. The sun is shining bright but it is 16 degrees today, so glad for the sunshine. Love reading your posts, stay warm.

Ooh wee, that’s cold. Grateful for the sunshine too. I’ll be headed to the grocery store today. Probably along with the rest of the town. :/ Stay cozy Marlene!
