Today I thought I’d show 5 autumn scenes around the house for my heart’s happiness and hopefully, you’ll see something you can incorporate too.
5 Autumn Scenes Around The House For My Heart’s Happiness
Autumn Scene #1
Every one of us has our likes and dislikes. We may not know why we don’t like something or quite put our finger on why we do, but we know. For me, I need my home to be cozy and without clutter. I get out of sorts when something that has a place is not there and probably sitting on the kitchen counter. Remember that post on Middlism? It still fits.
As I was decorating our family room with thoughts of colorful leaves, sweaters, and chilly evenings, I knew I wanted to bring in that same vibe. However, I didn’t want my living room or entry to look like a giant tree just dumped every leaf at once in our house.
Part of that Middlism is the Goldilocks concept where everything is just right. 😉
I always start with an inspiration piece. This year was a painting I found last year marked 50% off. Just knowing it was super cheap makes me giddy!
I love this painting. The colors, the town, the dirt road, the sign in the tree, even the two men talking to each other from across the street. Wouldn’t you love living there? I would if I could have air conditioning. Okay, and maybe a few other conveniences.
Anyway, looking at the colors I love the green, the golds and the frame in an orange wood tone. You can’t go wrong with choosing the colors from a print you love. I also noticed the painting having a lot of foliage so surrounding us with stems seemed like a plan.

By adding only a few fall decor items to the cubby shelf keeps it from being overwhelming. And spreading the color around and leaving some shelves empty keeps it soothing and uncluttered.
Autumn Scene #3
Spreading more joy around the room has been fun and relaxing at the same time. Still using the same gold, oranges and foliage (stems) keeps it cohesive. Switching out books to coordinating colors is easy. And adding fun things like the squirrel is a must.
The hutch used to be in the living room where the checked chairs sit now. I got a wild hair and wanted to try it in the entry. After unloading all the dishes, it was moveable. It might seem odd to some that I’d put a hutch in the entry but that’s the quirkiness I enjoy about my eclectic home.
Autumn Scene #4
Even though you have to completely turn your body around to see it when you walk in the front door, the color really pops and immediately screams fall is here! I think the hutch is going to stay there for a long time. A long time to me is more than 3 months. lol.

The last area is what you see as you walk out of the kitchen. More fall stems with gorgeous velvet ribbon and the hutch peeking through. Every space is cozy, inviting, colorful, and full of autumn cheer.

Keep it simple by finding your inspiration piece first. Pull out the colors, the subject (if possible) and go to town by keeping in mind what you want to get out of your home.
Oh my goodness! What a beautiful home you have! I thought I was looking at a home featured in a magazine. I absolutely love your style. I know exactly what you mean about not having too much clutter yet still have fall touches throughout the house. What you did is absolutely perfect. I love the fireplace and the hutch in the entry.

I totally love your approach!! Especially your aesthetic to keep it simple and clean. Lots of white space countered by beautiful fall colors and tones. My two favorites are the center pillow on your couch and that print in the cubby. Just gorgeous – both of them. Thank you for staying away from whatever currently ‘trendy’ and being pushed in JoAnn’s and HobLob. I do enjoy those stores, but… I am finding now that I am in my “middling’ phase, that I lean towards a more uncluttered, almost elegantly simple look and feel. Some of the excessive, overly done ornate displays don’t speak to me at all. Okay, enough rant. Thank you for this wonderful inspiration!

I wish you could see the smile on my face Kristine. You have me loving my home even more. Thank you so much. And I’m with you – the huge ornate displays aren’t doing it for me anymore. They are beautiful and I can see the appeal but I see lots of work, clean up and bins. lol!
I love that you embrace exactly what you love into your home. It’s extremely eclectic and I love everything about it! EVERYTHING! You have a unique decorating style. The fall colors should be a year round display in your home. Not meaning to use fall items but the color scheme. It brings out all the other things around it. I honestly can’t just pick one thing that I like or love because I love all of it!

The money shot – thank you! I see it so often coming out of the kitchen I almost take it for granted. And I’m thinking the hutch will be there a long time. Mostly because I don’t want to unload it again! But I’m not mentioning that to the hubs. He’ll say it’s time to get rid of some dishes! :0
Cindy..when I read your blog posts it feels to me that we are sitting next to each other having a conversation. I love your pictures..you photograph very well. I have pillow envy for the one embroider pillow that is next to your rust pillow. Oh my word..it is beautiful ❤. I can see how all your different vignettes make you happy. They are all lovely. I do that in my home as well… just makes me comfy cozy. Your landscape pictures look so nice where you have placed them. I enjoy your posts..such eye candy for me!!

Do you really place a table lamp that high?

Not sure which lamp you are talking about but yes. When you are sitting next to it, you typically want the bottom of the shade at your eye level for best light. If it’s on a console table, it’s perfect for the lamp shade to be at your eye level when standing. Thank you Gwen. If that doesn’t answer your question, let me know. I’m happy to help.
I love your hutch in the entry as much as the family room. The painting is a terrific find and I think it looks so pretty hanging on the shelves. Those colors are just beautiful!
