Spread the love

Hi Friends!  It’s time for our bimonthly Lifestyle of Love Hop!  If you’re not familiar with the term it’s when bloggers who love antiques, vintage treasures, farmhouse style and adore repurposing things get together and share how we use them.  This months theme is vintage chairs or stools.  Let’s get started with 3 fun ways I use vintage chairs and stools in our country home.

3 fun ways I use vintage chairs and stools in our country home

If you’ve hopped over from Our Southern Home, yay!  I’m glad you’re here.  I’m sure you enjoyed Christy’s beautiful home.  Below you’ll see posts from the rest of my friends so don’t just read and run or you’ll miss something amazing.

The first treasure I want to share is this old chair.  Well it used to be a chair but it was so rickety I didn’t feel comfortable sitting on it.  That was a disturbing debacle and a vision I prefer to dismiss so instead of just throwing it out (what a shame that would be), I removed the back and use it as a side table.

It works perfectly for magazines, coffee, cupcakes, an entire pizza box, TV remotes, everything really.  Can you make out the rest of the chair in the photo below?

Look on the table in front of the window.  The spindles are sitting inside a piece of fencing I rolled up to use like a vase.  They look like they are just sitting there with magic but I promise, there’s some old white fencing holding them up.  The chair back is hung on the wall as part of a grouping behind the slip covered chair.

Do you have a chair you cherish but can’t sit on?  Then turn it into a side table for the win!  There’s no need to throw out a perfectly perfect old chair.

Here is another adorable old chair that I can’t get rid of!  They just don’t make little chairs like this anymore.  I especially love the color.  It’s original to the chair so it really stands out during July 4th.

I’ve often wondered how many little bare feet and dirty hands have dragged that chair through the yard only to sit and enjoy a popsicle.  If they were anything like me, they used it also as a table for coloring out in the cool grass.

I have no idea how old this stool is but it’s sturdy.  Maybe because it has twisted wires on the bottom of the legs which keeps it from being wobbly?  We’ve used it as an extra seat but most of the time it’s purely decorative and used to hold something else; like a vintage box with flowers.  I go back and forth on whether or not to paint it white.  What do you think about that?  I love all things white but I also think we need to keep some warm woods around.

So, did you get some inspiration from the 3 fun ways I use vintage chairs and stools in our country home?  Want to see more?  Well it’s time to hop over to Common Ground.  You’ll love seeing what Debra does to her sweet chairs.

You are so clever to turn a rickety old chair into a side table and I love that you used the chair back and spindles for decorating. Your child’s chair is perfect to use as a side table on your porch.

Thanks for these fun ideas, I think collecting children’s chairs is fun and you have a sweet one. I usually keep the backs and spools but throw the rest away, not anymore. Some of my stools are painted and some not, it depends on how they look. This is such a fun blog post, thanks.

I love how you repurposed every piece of that sweet vintage chair, even putting the back piece on the wall. So cute and fun for wall decor. Your blue Toddler Set Chair is adorable. Mine is green, yours blue. Wonder how many other colors were made, but they are exactly alike. Thanks so much for putting the Hop together. Have a great Valentine’s Day weekend!

When I saw your Toddler Chair, I wondered the same thing – how many colors were made?! I love that little thing! Thanks Debra and Happy Valentine’s Day

These ideas are all so fabulous, Cindy! I love the child’s chair you have and the antique stool too – they’re both farmhouse perfection! Using the chair as a stool is pure genius. Oh my word, I’ll never look at broken chairs the same way again. As always love your style, creativity, and talent. They never cease to amaze me. Big hugs and thanks so much for putting this hop together, CoCo

Thank you for sharing! I think you should keep the stool natural. I love white also but I enjoy having some wood tones to warm the room up.
