2 Ways To Use Garland As A Centerpiece

Happy day Friends!  Are you ready for Christmas?  I’m ready for the candle light Christmas Eve service but not ready for all the cooking and setting of the tables.  I still need a couple of table centerpieces which got me to thinking that I could use the King of Christmas garland I have.  I came up with 2 ways to use garland as a centerpiece.  Check them out.

2 Ways To Use Garland As A Centerpiece

Idea # 1 – Fold the Garland in Half

The Tribeca Spruce Collection from King of Christmas comes with two lighted 3 foot tall potted trees (see that post here), a lighted 24 inch wreath (see that here) and a 9′ x 12″ lighted garland.  You’ve seen garland on mantels, over door ways and on stair railings but I wanted to show you 2 more ways to use it.

The 12 inch width of the lighted garland is full and fantastic but the 9 foot length won’t work on a table that only seats 6-8 people.  What does work though is folding it in half.  It’s thick, full of lights and the perfect length for our table.

The lighted garland speaks for itself but I tucked in some plaid ribbon and pinecones to keep with the theme of the dining room.  I won’t set the table until Christmas Eve (it gets dusty quick around here) and because I wanted you to see the size after folding the garland in half.  It’s just right!

I think a plaid table cloth with black chargers would look special.  Ooh, what about using the tablecloth with clear plates?  Yeah, I like that idea.  Dollar store here I come!  Whatever you choose, there is plenty of room for any extras you might want to add.  Like maybe candle sticks intermingled with the garland.

Idea # 2 – Make a Wreath

Another way to make a centerpiece from the garland is to take the already folded garland and connect the two ends.  Just twist two of the stems together and squish it to make a circle.  The King of Christmas garland will look so fluffy.

This was my favorite look.  Adding the wooden trees and deer inside was obviously easy which is what I need for the busy day ahead.  Adding a large lantern or vase with ornaments would look beautiful too.  A word of advice – hold on tight as you twist the stems together .  If you don’t, the pinecones could go flying across the room when it springs back open.   That may have happened twice (insert rolling eyes).

I think this one would look super cute with round or rectangle placemats along with a striking napkin ring or a small individual gift sitting above the place setting.  It gives you plenty of room for individual candles too.

Bonus Idea!

If you have a large round table, make a super large wreath to go around the center.  For example, use a flower arrangement as your centerpiece.  There will be an empty circle around it on the table.  The garland will sit above the place settings.  In that empty circle, you’ll line it with candles, small decor like Nutcrackers, ornaments or small trees, etc.  Hope that makes sense and you can picture that in your head.  I think it would be magnificent!

Anyway, my favorite part about this King of Christmas garland is the timer!  It will come on automatically just before the guests arrive and will go off when we’ve cleared the dishes and are onto the naps.  No wasted batteries and no forgetting to turn it on at just the right time.  Yep, that’s happened many times when I had to string my own lights .  We’ve gone through an entire meal only to remember I forgot to turn on the lights.  What a waste.  #HostessLife  #KingOfChristmas to the rescue!

Your house is lovely and so festive. I love the wooden decorations in the wreath 😄. Do you mind sharing where you got them? I just read your shower curtain post and laughed so hard! Very much how my projects go sometimes. It’s hard to rip out and I hate doing something over! You were able to save the day with the little basket! Have a happy holiday week!

Thanks so much Cecilia. That makes my day. I found the wooden trees from Home Goods. When I decorated the guest bathroom for Christmas, I switched up the tie back and remembered the struggle! lol. Glad you could visit today. Merry Christmas.

I totally get that Kathy. I know if I had a craft room, my table would never be clean. Thanks for the visit!

Me too Julie! This was my first time to use KoC and really love the timer on the lighted greenery. I know I keep saying that but it’s true! We have a ledge going up the stairs that has a plug but I can’t reach it without a ladder (a ladder and stairs isn’t a good idea) so when I was able to add the 3 foot tree and the wreath up on the ledge without a ladder, I was ecstatic! Woo hoo! Merry Christmas!

Very pretty Cindy! I love the garland around the mirror too! I am late visiting everyone’s Christmas homes, but I am still pretending like it’s Christmas through New Year’s and enjoying all of the festive decor. I just posted my home tour on Christmas Day!

    Happy New Year!

Oops I meant around the light fixture and also love the antique mirror …still tired from Christmas morning. My 14 year-old woke us up at 5:45!

You are so funny. I knew what you meant. Our kids are in their 20’s and the youngest was like hurry up people, I want to open my stocking! LOL
