Texas Pinners Conference and Expo!

Texas Pinners Conference and Expo 2018 by CountyRoad407.com
Spread the love

Howdy Friends!  So y’all know it was my birthday last Friday, the 14th.  Mommy Dearest was sweet and at the last minute let me drag her around from 10 am to 8 pm at the Texas Pinners Conference and Expo!  It was a nice way to spend a birthday.  If you’ve never been, find the closest one to you and make it happen.  It’s super inexpensive ($29 for 6 classes!) to attend and you won’t regret it if you are at all interested in shopping for unique items and crafts.  Even if you aren’t that crafty, you’ll enjoy seeing all the new “what’s in” crafts.

It’s a 2 day expo but I was good with just the 1 full day.  We painted a fall canvas using mixed techniques.  Let’s just say, not even a mother could love how that turned out.  Yikes!  Mom and I both kept saying “well, we can give it to my/your sister” but not even her sweet soul would have taken it.  We also learned tips and tricks on how to make French Macarons.  I truly believe they are so hard to make that if it weren’t for that class, we’d never be successful.

Crafts and Classes

Great crafts to make and take at the Pinnes Conf. 2018 in Texas. By CountyRoad407.com

We made stamped leather sleeves for our hot coffee cups.  Made some great smelling bath bombs that will make super cute Christmas gifts too.  As we were walking around checking out all the fab booths, there were people getting their wrinkles removed with some magical serum that looked amazing but was over my budget (bummer), people getting manicures, and Make and Takes everywhere.  A Make and Take is a booth or table that had everything you need to make a craft to take home.  So many fun ideas!

There were classes with sewing projects, crocheting, painting, wood working, etc., and plenty of clothes if you like boutique type shopping.  You could even bling up a pair of sunglasses if you so desired.  I got a pen made from a sterling silver knife that I love.  And I’ve already asked the Mister if we could make a few so I see a DIY coming!  I intended to purchase a decorative throw pillow but forgot because I didn’t want to carry it around all day.  When you put pressure on it, it started to vibrate and message your back.  They had one for the feet too and were $40.00.  That might sound a bit expensive but goodness me it felt so nice!

And Make and Take Tables!

A few of the classes had an extra cost for supplies but they seemed worth it and I don’t think any of them were over $15.00.

A Few Hints For Attending:

Wear comfy clothes that you might not care getting paint or glue all over.  Better yet, take an apron.

Sign up for classes early because the classes fill up fast.

All of the booths took cash or credit card.

The Expo gives you a tote bag when you arrive but it’s not large enough so skip that and bring your own.

There were a lot of young mothers there with their babies.  I didn’t get that because most of the young ones were bored, crying and seemed miserable and there is nothing for small children to do.  But I was envious of the strollers filled and carrying the wood signs.

Take your own food if your Convention Center allows.  They offered food but it was terrible tasting and terribly expensive.   I will at least take a sandwich and a bottled water.  Or you might be good with the booths that hand out pretzel sticks to try the dips and the tiny cups to try the soups.  Hahahahaha – no.

Be prepared to pay for parking (usually cash only).

Take a friend or your mom.  It’s more fun with a pal.

Cindy, I hadn’t a clue about this! I would love to attend next year and that gives me an excuse to see the grandkids! Do they just do this in the fall or also in the spring? I need more info, for sure!

The closest one to you would be Minnesota but a visit to Texas sounds perfect for you! I believe since they go to different states around the country, they do start in Spring but for Texas, it seems to always be in Sept. Next year instead of Arlington, it will be in Dallas. Check out http://www.pinnersconference.com. and it will have lots of info. And you can sign up to get the emails for 2019. Hope to see you there next time! 😀

Well, this Mommy Dearest had a wonderful time. Sadly, I’m not “crafty”, but since the laughter never stopped I was ok with the several reminders. Not a single negative thought comes to mind. Oh, wait! Boo to the food! Other than that, I’m ready for next year.

Yay! That’s genius and d to hear. With you, Pam and I all going on my birthday next year, we’ll never stop laughing! Sounds like a plan to me! 😀
