Spread the love

Hello sweet friends!  Today should be fun and full of big hearts and vintage love.  Why?  Because I have another blog hop for you hosted by Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home.  If you hopped over here from Sweet Pea then a big thank you!  I’m glad you’re here.  Didn’t Paula’s mantel give you all the romantic feels?!

Vintage inspired Valentine blog hop from CountyRoad407.com

What do y’all do for Valentines Day – anything?  Most of the time the Mister and I try to beat the crowds and either go out to lunch that day or dinner on the day before or after February 14th.  And since we are both carnivores, steak it is.  The meal is so yummy we rarely get to eat dessert.  So, this year I’ve decided to set a vintage inspired dessert table for 2.

Now that the kids are gone, it’s only set for us.  We are not the kind of couple who sit at opposite ends of the table; like in the actual host and hostess chair.  Nope.  We don’t sit on the same side of the booth either.  We are more of the smile and wink at each other while using the corner of a table.  😉  Oh sure, we enjoy ourselves and laugh and there might be an occasional hand holding but that’s about it.  No smoochin’ in public!  We do hold hands in the parking lot though.  I’ve never asked but I bet that’s more so he’s not embarrassed when I trip and fall.  I’m a bit clumsy.

Anyway, doing a vintage themed Valentine’s table gave me the opportunity to use a couple of the antique plates I’ve collected.  I do love my collection.  Almost as much as the Mister.  Just kidding.  He gives me great joy and makes me laugh.  I tell our friends – I’m a well kept woman.  🙂

To add to the vintage feel, I used a few antique jello molds I found in Keller, TX.  At least I think they are jello molds.  I don’t really know.  I’ve never made jello.  And the napkins under the plates aren’t actually napkins, they are tea towels.  I thought they were so pretty I’m using them anyway.  I make big messes sometimes so it’s all good.

I found the cute pink glass vases and the lace covered string lights at the At Home store.  They are perfect for adding just a touch of romance for us.  The Mister says he’s over trying to be romantic because all I do is laugh.  I do laugh but it’s in an even-though-I’m-laughing-on-the-outside-it’s-a-thank-you-I-feel-so-special-on-the-inside-kinda-way.

I promise!

We won’t eat all of this food.  But I wanted choices.  Cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes, candy, and I’ll make chocolate dipped strawberries soon.  Okay, I’ll be honest, none of this is going to last until the 14th.  I’ll be re-buying it all.   Yes, I said I bought it.  I don’t have time to bake all this stuff.  Especially when we are happy with whatever.  I will hand dip the strawberries though.  That’s my gift to the Mister each year.  He loves a dark chocolate dipped strawberry.  If my mother reads this, she’ll roll her eyes remembering the time we were at the store and I took 30 minutes picking up every single plastic carton of strawberries trying to find the best looking ones.  I know that sounds like an exaggeration but sadly, it isn’t.

This will be the first time in years that I haven’t made a heart shaped cake and I’m kinda missing it.  I can’t use that cake pan when it’s hanging on the wall!  LOL.  If you didn’t see that DIY, click here.

Now it’s time to head on over to Calypso in the Country  for more Valentine inspiration.  You’ll also want to click on all of the other links below for lots of vintage goodness and Valentine’s Day Fun.

Happy Valentine’s Day Friends!

What a beautiful table Cindy! Sometimes when we are empty nesters we don’t do all the things we use to when the kids were home but I think it’s so important to take the time and add those special touches for the men we love. Nothing wrong with store bought treats it’s the heart behind it ❤️

    • February 4, 2019 / 10:41 am

We really do need to show the men how much we love them. It’s the little things, right?! So glad you stopped by. Miss chatting with you!

Cindy I love those jello molds – so cute! You always find the best stuff. Love your Valentines table…

    • February 4, 2019 / 10:43 am

Glad you like it Tammy. And I’m really glad you called them “jello molds” too! I wasn’t sure. Hope you have a great week.

  3. February 4, 2019 / 7:55 am

Cindy, you are funny. I understand why Mister loves being around you. Pretty baked items, as much as we love the idea of homemade desserts, sometimes time doesn’t allow it. In France, desserts for dinner parties are always bought at the bakery. So think of yourself as very French.

    • February 4, 2019 / 10:45 am

Oh my goodness Carol, yes! Yes, I’m very French! LOL. I’ll will be bringing that up EVERY time I buy a dessert. Thanks for visiting today and for the fantastic news! 😉

What a beautiful table with all the pretty pink! If those delicious treats were in my home, they would never last! Like your husband, I am a huge fan of dark chocolate covered strawberries. I could eat them all day, every day. Also, the comments you made about your him were so sweet. He sounds like a keeper! It’s great to blog hop with you! Enjoy your week!

Shelley, you are correct – the Mister is definitely a keeper. He suits me just fine. 😉 Glad to have hopped with you as well. Thanks for the visit!

The jello mold are so adorable! They remind me of my grandmother who was always making special desserts for her lady friends.

    • February 4, 2019 / 10:50 am

Awe Michelle, I should do that sometime. Have some lady friends over for a vintage tea party or something so I can use them again! Glad you hopped over today. 🙂

    • February 4, 2019 / 10:53 am

When I saw those lights I snatched them up knowing they’d be perfect for a vintage look. I bet I get a ton of use out of them. Thanks Terrie!

Thanks Linda. We like to think we’re cute and fun. LOL. Not sure our kids think the same way though. 😉

  15. February 4, 2019 / 1:28 pm

What a beautiful table you set, Cindy! I love your beautiful rose trimmed plates and those desserts were making me drool as I scrolled, especially the iced cakes in the jello molds. I love that idea and I’m going to have to make my mom dig out her jello molds so that I can do this for Valentine’s Day. Her molds were just like yours and we loved it when she made jello in them. She never removed the jello from the mold, we just ate out of them. I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

    • February 4, 2019 / 1:48 pm

I loved hearing that about your moms jello molds! We never had them growing up. I honestly don’t even remember eating jello but that’s not news – I forget everything. Glad the post made you smile and were inspired! Big hugs Paula!

  16. February 4, 2019 / 2:05 pm

Your posts always make me laugh! Very sweet table setting!

    • February 4, 2019 / 2:26 pm

Haha. Thanks Julie. Glad you stopped by today too!

  17. February 4, 2019 / 2:21 pm

This is such a good idea and I still have plenty of time to plan a dessert for two for my hubby!! I love how you used the jello molds for the cupcakes! Brilliant and beautiful!!

    • February 4, 2019 / 2:29 pm

Brilliant AND Beautiful? Thanks Kristin! I bet you have jello molds too in your stash of vintage goodies! Enjoy. 😉

Hi Cindy, I love vintage jello molds and always pick them up when I run across them at thrift shops. They are great for crafting and perfect for your dessert table! Hubby and I don’t like fighting the crowds, so we go out earlier or another day. We will cook a yummy dinner at home, and yes; we will have dessert! Your table is so pretty. Love the plates and the lights!
    hugs,
    Jann

    • February 5, 2019 / 3:22 pm

Thank you Jann. I am looking for a fun craft to do with the extra jello molds I have. I think maybe for Christmas. Thanks for stopping by. Big Hugs!

    • February 5, 2019 / 3:24 pm

Thank you Christy. I don’t know which I liked better – using the vintage plates or adding the treats?! Glad you stopped by. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  22. February 5, 2019 / 8:15 pm

What a pretty and sweet Valentine’s Day table! The vintage plates are so pretty along with the beautiful napkins (dish towels). The pink tulips are my favorite part!

I love to read about you and your hubby too…so sweet! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

    Thanks for joining the hop!

    • February 5, 2019 / 9:57 pm

Thanks Amber. The Mister and I have a good time together. And those tulips are fake girl! Totally fake. Found them at a flea market last year. I’m going back next month hoping to find more. 😃

  23. February 5, 2019 / 11:06 pm

Your post is so fun. We sit across from one another and we do hold hands when we walk.

The jello molds are such a cute idea for the cupcakes. Now I want to go buy cupcakes to set a cute table.

    • February 5, 2019 / 11:10 pm

Yay Carol! I’m glad to hear you’ve been inspired to do a table! Our cupcakes are already gone. LOL. And I think it’s totally sweet y’all hold hands when you walk. Thanks for sharing that. Big hugs.

  24. February 6, 2019 / 2:54 pm

    Hello Cindy!
What a precious post brimming with cuteness overload and creativity too! These jello molds…are the most adorable things ever.
I love that you are keeping love alive in your home with your sweetie. The hubby and me love hikes and picnics…there is nothing finer for us than sitting my a gurgling stream munching on pb and j! Just call a crazy!
    Big Hugs From Colorado!
    Jemma

    • February 6, 2019 / 5:42 pm

Awe, thank you Jemma. You two sound like crazy love birds but the only hiking I want to do is on a scooter. Miss you!

  25. February 6, 2019 / 5:27 pm

    Cindy,
All of your store-bought desserts look delicious. With only two eating dessert, it is much easier to buy desserts than to make one that is too much for two people. And, now I am craving a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing… just a little variation from one of yours.

    Happy Valentine’s Day,

    Judith

    • February 6, 2019 / 5:44 pm

Judith, I bet even your store bought treats look all French and amazing. It’s in your natural touch. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you this spring!

  26. February 6, 2019 / 9:20 pm

Yes, they are jello molds, Cindy, but they are definitely better with Valentine M&M’s; I screw up jello every. time. Love your pretty vintage roses plates and the whole married-a-long-time romantic scene;) Miss being your neighbor this time:( Enjoy the steak dinner!

    • February 6, 2019 / 9:25 pm

Thank you Laura! I was thinking that same thing about us being hop neighbors too. 😂. Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️
