How Nature Inspired The New Kitchen Curtains

Spread the love

At our home in the country, I am a basic white fan.  White sofas, white bedding, white trim, white floors, white curtains, etc.  My husband says white is the worst color to have if you live in the country.  He’ll never convince me of that.  I love white, but nature has pushed me into a color kick.  Surprised?  Me too!  Let me share how nature inspired the new kitchen curtains at the farmhouse.

How Nature Inspired The New Kitchen Curtains

green grass, blue sky and lots of trees with a barbed wire fence

It all started with the front yard.  The sky that day was amazing and so vividly blue.  I couldn’t help but notice the trees as well.  We’ve been concerned about them after losing two large 300-year-old trees a couple of years ago.

All the beauty had me adding color in places I hadn’t thought of before.  For instance, the kitchen windows.

I’ve had handmade (by me) curtains hanging in the kitchen for years.  Twelve to be exact!  So you can understand why the Mister was shocked when he saw them.  That is until I told him not to get his hopes up.  We’ll have to see.  It might only be for spring and summer.

Enter the hand-printed, Woodland Fern, 100% cotton curtains by Saffron Marigold.  I was ecstatic to open the package and may have giggled a little seeing them in person.

They are exactly what I envisioned.  With only two small windows in the kitchen, I need as much light as I can get.  And my oh my, did these do the trick!

Just look at the pattern – the flowers, the birds, the leaves, I love it all.  These are not only beautiful but have a timeless look about them.  They should look amazing for years.

This avocado printed hand towel from Hobby Lobby was irresistible as well.  It adds another area of color to coordinate with the color outside the windows.  Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a little whimsy now and then?

Can you see how nature inspired the new kitchen curtains?

If you are looking to make a change in your home decor, start small, and try curtains.  They’ll make a great jumping off point and you never know where a small swap can take you.  It might lead to a full transformation.  One you never knew you needed.  Oh, I won’t be going crazy with color but this little touch sure makes me smile.

I highly recommend Saffron Marigold.  They are a small company based in the good ol’ USA, are well made, and they have the sweetest customer service department.  I will be ordering more pieces from them again soon.

Happy Decorating Friends!
