A Neutral Christmas Porchette

Hello again!  If you’re coming over from the Sweet Pea blog, then a million thank you’s!  I have another wonderful hop today and I know you’ve been dying to see our Christmas porchette.  Just kidding.  No one really wants to see a sad little Charlie Brown porch that isn’t even a porch.   It wouldn’t have been a post but because I’m joining together with sweet Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home and several other bloggers, I decided to clinch down on the wooden spoon and decorate it.   If you scrolled down to the bottom to bypass mine, it won’t hurt my feelings.  There are some nice wreaths and porches down there.  But if you’ve decided to blunder through, here’s a neutral Christmas porchette for your sympathy amusement.  LOL

A NEUTRAL CHRISTMAS PORCHETTE

With timing and the weather around here, I haven’t been able to paint our front door so it’s still the terracotta color.  Nice for fall decor but not the greatest when you enjoy red and black for Christmas.  So three cheers for neutral colors!  This is the before picture.  After making the little trees in the planters, I just couldn’t keep the red.  They looked yucky with the terracotta door so a quick and inexpensive change was in order.

A Cozier Christmas Porchette

Y’all what a difference a pillow can make!  I’ve been saved.  It’s not as Charlie Brown now as I thought.  I even want to sit out there and watch the leaves fall.  Even though we’re under a tornado watch and it’s a balmy 72 degrees outside, the cold weather will come eventually so the blanket will be nice plus blankets always make things look more cozy.  Don’t you think so?

I prefer the outside of the house to be more symmetrical with decor so the other side (a whole 4 feet over) is similar.  The pillows came from Hobby Lobby and the cute stockings did too.  They are stuffed with grocery bags and I’m reeeeaaallyy hoping the nasty little lizards don’t take up residence in them.  I will seriously gag and pass out if one crawls on me!  Remember the scene in Parent Trap where a lizard crawls into the mouth of the future step mom?!  Oh My Gosh, I would have died!  That’s the real reason I don’t like sitting out there.  Any type of snaky, lizardy grossness and I’m out!  Actually, I’m in(side)!

The stockings were a little plain at the top so I added the plaques and live greenery for a some holiday pizzazz.  I know I’ll use them next year somewhere in the house and who wouldn’t for five dollars!  That’s some serious modern farmhouse cuteness for that price.

One good thing about having a porchette; the decor is tucked in so far that it’s out of the winter elements and doesn’t get that dirty.  One sad thing about it being tucked in, is that no one from the street can see the cuteness.  So I guess I’m doing all this for the UPS man.  Well, and you – you matter!  😉

I’ll post the DIY on the super easy trees later as well as the farmhouse front porch from last year.  It’s a real porch.  😉

If you’ve hung around this long, you’ll want to check out the other bloggers and see what they’ve done to their front doors. They are beautiful.  Up next is The Crowned Goat.  I always enjoy seeing what CoCo has done.

Merry Christmas Friends!

Thank you Terrie. Nice of you to say since you have to walk all the way up the drive to see it. LOL. Hope you have a great Monday!

Cindy, I’d never heard of a porchette, but I was pretty sure I knew what you meant I love how you upstyled the stockings. Hope there aren’t any lizards hiding in them. We dont have any porches, so I would be happy to have a porchette.

    • December 3, 2018 / 10:52 am

Me too! I asked for a lizard spray to keep them away but the Mister said there was no such thing and that I should learn to like them because they eat bugs. Whatever. Not sure I really believe him anyway. :/ Thanks for stopping by Carol!

I love your neutral porchette! It’s cute and cozy. And the throw pillow and pom pom blanket are adorable! So fun to join you on this hop! Happy Holidays!!!

The blankets are really hardy. They’ve been washed a couple of times already and still look and feel brand new. Well except now they don’t have a weird plastic bag smell. :_ As always, thank you Heather! Merry Christmas!

Haha. You are too funny. I love lizards. The stockings are adorable. I almost bought that pillow. Cute porch.

Hi Cindy! I love how you called your entryway a “porchette”, and it’s adorable! I love the Christmas stocking with the reversible tag. It’s perfect on the gate decor with the greenery. The Christmas tree in the urn and the pointsetta in the crock are perfect touches. So happy to be hopping with you!

Thanks Michelle. I enjoy having out there. Even if it’s only for the UPS guy. 😀

I love our house but always wished we had a porchette. Yours is so inviting and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Pinning!

Porchette’s are terrible. You don’t want one – trust me. 😂. Thanks for visiting and pinning Michelle! ❤️

I wouldn’t be able to handle those lizards, either! I have to talk my mind through seeing 1 gardner snake a year in my yard! Love the neutral look you put together; very classy! And blankets outside…totally yes! Enjoy the Christmas season, Cindy!

    • December 3, 2018 / 5:17 pm

Lora, when I see a snake, no matter what the size, I start crying in fear. I know it’s ridiculous but I can’t help it! I’d move to Alaska if it meant I’d never see another snake or lizard! Thanks for hopping over. Merry Christmas

Your porchette looks charming decorated for Christmas. I’m sure the UPS man is appreciative of your efforts. Hee-Hee Seriously, it’s too bad that you neighbors can’t enjoy this pretty space. My favorite part is how you made the chairs look inviting with cute pillows and throws. I’m with you on the lizards. Any reptile can stay far away from me!

    • December 3, 2018 / 8:11 pm

I keep thinking they have to go hibernate soon! Ugh! Thanks for stopping by and the sweet comments. We’ll see if the UPS guy says anything. HA!

    Cindy,
I love your porchette. The brick on your house is a pretty mix of colors and the details on the brick work is so nice… I love the little insets that make the porch protected.

    Merry Christmas, Texas blogging friend,

You are so crazy funny Cindy! I just pinned so many of these pictures to different Pinterest boards because I love this porch THAT much. You constantly inspire me to use pieces in spaces I would have never even thought to use. I love your stockings and your trees and your cozy reading spot (or UPS present drop spot) too. It’s all perfection, as are you! Hugs, I love it, you nailed it, great job – CoCo

Girl, you made me laugh! Your porchette is gorgeous. I love the stockings, and yes the pillow and blanket!! That is one lucky UPS man. 🙂
    hugs,
    Jann

    • December 7, 2018 / 9:51 am

HA Jann, you made me smile! He hasn’t mentioned anything yet but I watched him looking around at the porchette. He usually puts the packages in the chair but since it’s so cute now, he didn’t know what to do and just placed the envelope gently on the ground. It was like he was in awe of the entire thing and thought maybe he should take off his shoes! Hahahahaha!
