A 10 minute wall art project!

Spread the love

Good morning!  Hope you are doing something fun today – even if it’s sitting down to watch a show on Netflix.  Speaking of Netflix, the Mister and I are out of choices.  I say that with rolling eyes and a smirk on my face because I know there are gazillions of shows to choose from but we can’t find one that looks intriguing enough or clean enough to push the play button.  I hate it when there’s no tag like TV-14 or PG listed on it.  That’s the real reason we can’t find anything.  And I refuse to watch Dr. Pol with the Mister.  Gross and no stanks.  I just can’t stomach it.  I’m more of a Pride and Prejudice kinda girl anyway.  So… if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! 😉

Now back to what I really wanted to show you.  Last time I was in Canton, TX at First Monday Trade Days, I went to my fave store, LaurieAnna’s.  Sigh.  I’ve said it before, if I could only hide in the racks and wait until they close, I could sleep there and pretend it’s my home.  It is that fabulous!  If you’d like to see a past post about it, click here.

Among the gorgeous home decor items and dishes and greenery and wall art and clothes and architectural pieces, there are posters.  Vintage looking paper that you could use for wall art, wrapping paper, or even placemats or table runners for your next gathering.  I found a great big one with cows on it.  It was only $3.50!  I thought it would be perfect hanging in Navasota since that’s where the cows are.

You’ve seen these all over Pinterest and I’ve had this frame with jute string stapled to the back for photo’s but I like big things.  Big like 2 foot by 3 foot big and no, not butts.  The poster needed to fit in the center and the strings weren’t lined up where I needed them.   So instead of adding more string I used left over fabric strips to break it up a little.  Including the one dollar frame from the thrift store, this entire project cost about $6.00.  Ain’t bad for 10 minute wall art!

When I tire of this poster, I’ll probably hang vintage tea towels on it or the missing sock found in the dryer or old recipes, or maybe leaves in the fall, and cards during Christmas.  Who knows, but there’s a plethora of choices.  Have you made a 10 minute craft lately?  Tell me about it!  But first, I need Netflix ideas.  Just sayin.  Thanks in advance friends!

We do not have Netflix but we do have Cable. I like crime shows but get tired of TV shows a lot. I recently found Hallmark Mysteries. This shows my age, but Murder, She Wrote, Father Dowling, Colombo, Hart to Hart are some of the shows that are on plus they also have new series. One is based on a lady who owns an antique store (Rags to Riches) and gets items in and starts a mystery. These all are clean shows. Of course, I have always watched the regular Hallmark movies. Anyway, you probably know about these but thought I would share. LOVE your blog!! P.S. I have that same poster with cows and couldn’t decide how to display it. Now I know!!

Thank you Sharon! You made my day with your sweet comment. Send a picture over when you get your cow poster hung – I’d love to see it! And THANK YOU for the new show tips. Hallmark has always been my favorite. When Christmas comes around I watch every movie, even if I’ve already seen it. LOL. Then when the season is over, I’m like Oh No! What do I do now? And start going through withdrawals. 🙂

Marlene, you always make me smile and I’m glad you are inspired. And even with a husband, it probably wouldn’t get done any faster. Mine has to “think” about it fir a while first. LOL! I adore cows. The ones in Navasota are usually so sweet and come to the fence anytime we have food (of course).

“Somebody Feed Phil”….it’s a travel/food series. It’s sweet, funny and life affirming. I also enjoyed “Anne With An E”. It’s a remake of Anne of Green Gables. Hubby enjoyed it as well. Of course, there’s always anything from BBC!

Thank you Marilyn. I love BBC too and watched Anne with an “E” but have never seen Anne of Green Gables. I’m waiting for Anne to see how wonderful Gilbert Blythe is. Maybe next season! 🙂

The Great British Baking show is fun! Love the frame idea & switching it out with the seasons. I need this in my home office!

    • August 15, 2018 / 3:51 pm

I love switching things out without having to do much to it. Like our family 5 x 7 prints! Why not make the super large pieces just as easy? Thanks for popping over today and I’m going to check out that baking show! Wish we could taste it all too. Yum!

Talk about easy! I’ll have to do this next time I have a poster or something similar I want to hang. Sorry, the only one I can think of is The Crown. I wish I could say we watch a lot of Netflix, but we don’t. I don’t watch much tv and the Mr. loves his reruns, ugh!

    • August 15, 2018 / 10:27 pm

It is super easy Carol and hope you show us what you do soon! It’s funny that your hubby likes reruns and you don’t. I don’t like them either but I have a couple of movies I could watch over and over. 🙂 Have a good week!

Have you watched “Call the Midwife”? SO good.

    • August 15, 2018 / 4:54 pm

I think we started it? I’ll go back and check. Sometimes we start a show and then get notification that another season is back on we’ve been waiting for. Then we forget all about the new thing for the old thing. 😉. Thanks Melinda!

It is! Don’t you wish you lived in there, if only for a day? It would be like playing house. Grown up style! ❤️
