Spread the love

Hello, beautiful friends!  I’m so excited you’ve joined us for Farmhouse Friday 426.  Are you ready for Christmas?  Are you excited to spend your days in joyful anticipation, celebrating the coming of our Savior?!  I am loving it!

Today, I spent the day with a dear friend baking cookies.  It was so nice!  The fact that we even had a baking day is crazy.  I can’t bake, and honestly, don’t want to bake.  The first thing I look at is the ingredient list.  If it has more than 5 ingredients, I’m out.  It’s not happening.  But today was different.  A friend makes all the difference.  I learned a few things about why I have so many mishaps.  Maybe I’ll get a wild hair and try again.  Maybe.

FARMHOUSE FRIDAY 426

Given that I had a great baking experience and in hopes of encouraging you to have a baking day with a dear friend, the feature theme this week is Crazy Cool, Fun Christmas Baking Ideas!  From the looks of them, they’re probably not anything I’ll try, but maybe someone who lives around my house will give it a whirl – and bring me a nibble!  😉

Happy December, Cindy! Yesterday, a few friends and I went to our local “Cookie Wonderland” where the newspaper announces the winners of their annual cookie contest. The winnders were there and then we got to taste the cookies baked by the finalists and winner! It was so fun and we learned a lot – BUT, I kept thinking that I’d probably never make most of them on my own because I do best with minimal ingredients and steps! If you can believe it, a 5th grade boy won the blind contest with over 200 entries! Thanks for the party!

Congrats to the 5th grade boy! Maybe he’ll open up his own bakery one day. Even typing that, I think – yuck. Having to get up at the crack of black to bake stuff sounds like torture to me! lol. But your Cookie Wonderland sounds like a great time. I wish we had something like that near us. Enjoy the holiday fun!

Thanks for hosting Cindy! I love to bake when I’m not rushed, and have time to enjoy it. Although, recipes with too many ingredients scares me away LOL!

I don’t mind baking fruit pies. It’s decorating the top crust that’s fun. It might not taste great but it’s pretty. 😉 It’s because all I have to do is open up a couple of cans of cherry filling and boom, I’m done. Ha! Merry Christmas Michelle.

Glad I’m not the only one! Even some of the ones that say “easy” have more ingredients that I can stand. Hope you do something holidayish this weekend!

I bake at least 24 kinds of cookies each year & sell assortments of them ~ some are easy and some are difficult. You MUST try the Honeycomb candy #34 ~ it’s really easy and so much fun (when it foams up) and you’ll love giving it as gifts (especially to men who are so hard to buy gifts for). My gluten-free Buche de Noel #32 may be a little overwhelming, BUT look at the super-easy 1 ingredient, 1 step chocolate BARK! You’ll make that and put it on everything (storebought cakes or even pies! butterscotch “bark” on apple or pumpkin pies would be delicious and look so cute). Trust me, that bark is just the easiest thing ever! Just need chocolate or other chips and wax or parchment paper! ……….I’ll catch you next week and look to see if you’ve tried to put bark on anything (haha)

Oh wow! I’m definitely looking and that. Might not get to it this week but it will be on my list of things to do! I love easy and looking like a fabulous baker. lol! Thank you for the tips! But 24 kinds?! That’s crazy to me! Happy Baking!

Oh my, I ran right over to Missy’s for that recipe! I have a table set just for the truffle tree, and it fits right in my O Christmas Tree theme #58 (as a centerpiece? yes!). Thanks for combing through all the great posts and making pin-worthy features each week, Cindy. Even if my enthusiasm is sometimes greater than my actual ability to execute, they’ll always be pinned for future reference.

Thank you Rita, I appreciate that. I hope to see a photo of your truffle tree! If anyone can do it, it’s you! 🙂 Happy holidays
