It’s time for Farmhouse Friday 407. Have you been having a wonderful week? Mine was nice up until Wednesday morning. I was asked to do a Staging Report for a client. When I arrived, the homeowner said I hope you’re not afraid of snakes. I have five of them in various rooms. That caused me to start tearing up. Then I got shaky and could barely talk. It was the worst staging report I’ve ever had to do.
She could see my reaction and just kept talking. She even said they wouldn’t eat me. What the cuss? I’m not afraid of them eating me! Y’all, she was a therapist and suggested some tactics to get me over my fear. She clearly didn’t understand my phobia if she thought touching and holding a “pretty one” was going to be possible. Maybe hypnosis and never seeing another snake again might be okay, but I’m not willing to find out.

As I was driving back home, I wanted to call my husband and tell him, but I couldn’t even talk. All I could do was cry the hour ride back home. Happy Wednesday to me. I forgot to mention, as I was leaving, she asked why I didn’t like them. I said – for starters, they slither, they have forked tongues, and hello, they represented the devil in the Garden of Eden! Need I say more?
Do you have a fear of something you cannot understand? Something that can cause you to hyperventilate at the sight of it? If so, I am so very sorry.
Was it a desk or the new sideboard for the dining room?
On a happier note, I found a new piece at an antique store and absolutely adore it! You can see it by clicking here. It was one of those moments when you tell yourself – don’t worry, you’ll find a place for it. 😉
FARMHOUSE FRIDAY 407
Our theme this week for the features is summer vibes. Let me know what you think.
Starting off our summer vibes is Raquel from Organized Island with her Hawaiian Cheesecake Salad. This look perfect to serve on a hot summer’s day. Pop over to get the recipe!
How cute is this?! Michelle from Thistle Key Lane shared how she created the perfect way to decorate your home for summer. Check out how to make one for yourself!
Wouldn’t you enjoy walking into this backyard? Why yes, yes I would! Click on Debbie Dabble to see the rest of her cottage garden. She’s put so much work into it!
If this doesn’t scream summer, I don’t know what does! I love the colors, the creativity and the convenience! Hop over to see how Linda from Crafts-a-la-mode created this picnic party cart. And don’t forget to pin it for later!

You are so welcome Michelle. Your sailboat is perfectly summer and super fun!
What??? I can’t believe that your client was taken aback by your discomfort! In my mind, she should have made you aware of the snakes (!!!) when the appointment was made! I would have felt exactly like you with no warning or prep! Hopefully this coming week will go better! Thanks, as always, for hosting us all!

Thank you for the encouragement. I was a mess! Happy weekend Laura.
How awful for you, Cindy! And she’s a therapist? Let’s just say she is one I’d never recommend!
Author
My thoughts exactly! I was so uncomfortable. Thank you Ann.
I’m 100% same with snakes. As a young teenager, I was in an elevator with a girl who had a snake wrapped all over her. I thought I was going to loose it before I got out next floor to take stairs instead of riding with that snake.
Don’t let anyone tell you something is wrong with you, snakes play their part in wildlife, but in a home – I’ll pass.
Loved the post.

OH MY GOSH CHERI!!! I cannot even imagine! Just picturing that in my head makes me nervous and I’m breathing a little heavier. May we never come across another snake in our lifetime.
Omg Cindy!!!! I would have left the house screaming! I have the same phobia, and have nightmares whenever I see one.
Author
Yes, nightmares for days. I hate it for us both. I can’t even say I admire people who can handle them. I truly don’t understand it.
I’m with you on the snakes! I would have freaked out! Thanks for hosting and enjoy your weekend!

At first I was embarrassed by the black mascara running down my face. I quickly got over that and just wanted to get the heck out of there. I seriously think it was the worst appointment I’ve ever had in my entire 25 years!
Cindy.
I would have died!! I do NOT like snakes and I have seen my share outside around here as we have copperheads here in NEPA!! YIKES!!!!
My Link Ups for today’s party are # 44, 45 and 46!!
Thank you for the feature and for your very kind words about my post!!!!! I will be giving you a Shout Out both on my Face Book page and in my next Blog post!! Also Thank You for hosting each week!! I truly appreciate all the work that you put into hosting a link party!!

My pleasure Debbie. I always appreciate you linking up and sharing your lovely life. Thanks for the shout outs too! Very sweet of you and greatly appreciated. I NEVER thought PA would have copperheads. I’ve even seriously thought about moving up north to get away from snakes. What a disappointment! Be safe my friend!
Oh my gosh, Cindy, I cannot even imagine your fright or flight feeling when being told of the snakes! Just this morning, my granddaughter was playing with an animal sounds book, and when we got to the snakes, she said (matter-of-factly), “I don’t like snakes”. Me either darling, let’s skip that one!
Cute, cute picnic party cart! And that Hawaiian cheesecake salad – heavenly (pinned!). I LOVE your new sideboard!
Have a great weekend!

Isn’t it odd that even littles that have probably never had a terrifying experience with snakes, don’t like them? I had to stop following a favorite account on IG because I’d be scrolling, enjoying all the pretty squares, then BOOM – A SNAKE! Nope.
Thank you so much for hosting!

My pleasure Pam. Thank you for the visit. 🙂
Love that sailboat from Michelle! So clever and pretty! Thanks for hosting! Hugs!

I know, right?! She should sell those! Thanks Julie
I hate snakes! And we only have little non-poisonous ones. Saw a little garter snake in my garden this week, and it made me not want to water my plants. Need Mr. Fix-it to find it and kill. it. I would have walked right back out of that lady’s house and told her to find another person to help her. No way. I can kill spiders with my fingers, take fish off the hook and shake dead mice out of cool vintage finds…but no snakes. Call me Indie. Thanks for the LOL and for hosting!
Author
Exactly! I can deal with anything! Even large Houston, TX sized roaches or rats. But not even a tiny non-poisonous snake is beyond hyperventilation. Hope Mr. Fix It can find it and KILL it. I fear telling my husband to do it would initiate a conversation about how those are “good” snakes. THERE IS NO SUCH THING!
OMG! I can’t even say the “S” word! Didn’t she understand that having them there is NOT a good idea for staging a home for sale? As a potential buyer, I would walk out when I saw the first one. There’s a commercial on TV for a Copperhead hose that expands and then coils back up when you drain the water from it. I loved the idea but can’t even watch that commercial and no way would I have that black THING coiling and uncoiling on my patio! (btw: it’s $29 for 25 ft, and I found a 50 ft fabric one for $12, Walmart on-line, which is my best buy of the year! It goes back to about a pound of puckered fabric, but when you turn it on it reaches 50 ft ~ came with a nozzle and even a hanger to put on the hose bib ~ and it’s green and doesn’t coil up!) … catch y’all again next week!
Author
I love that information and will pass it on to the hubby because I literally HATE the hose we have in the pack yard. It doesn’t coil up but the rubber is printed to look like snakeskin. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I have jumped more than once seeing that thing and we’ve had it for a few years now. I think maybe I’ll switch it out myself and not wait for him. Thank you!
