Hey Friends!  Are you in full swing for a wonderful Christmas season yet?  I hope so.  It seems like we don’t get enough time for Christmas.  Well if you haven’t finished and need a little more inspiration, I have some.  Today I’m sharing 5 delightful ideas for a merry Christmas bedroom.  Just in case you’re like me and want to be surrounded by all the joy you can get!  ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve joined several other creative bloggers for this hop hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style for their 2021 Holiday Home Series.  Don’t forget to check out the others below.  There are some a few blogs you may have not seen before!  That’s always fun.

5 Delightful Ideas For A Merry Christmas Bedroom

If you’re new here or hopping over from A Stroll Thru Life, yay, thank you and a big ol’ Texas howdy!  I hope you stick around and find some new ideas.

Now let’s see how I made our bedroom cozy for Christmas.

The first thing I do to make our bedroom more Christmas cozy is to switch out the bedding.  It doesn’t have to be new, just different.  But if it’s red or green or whatever color that works with your Christmas theme, that’s even better.  If you don’t have a second comforter or quilt, it’s okay.  Try incorporating a throw blanket at the end of the bed.  I added a lightweight quilt for the Mister.  He says he gets cold.  Not sure those words will ever come out of my mouth again.  I do not get cold.  Even with a fan blowing in my face.  Can you guess how old I am (insert rolling eyes)?

Christmas pillow on bed

If you don’t usually use decorative pillows, add one.  Find a new one that says Christmas to you.  I found this one on Mud Pie’s website.  They have some adorable Christmas decor.  Etsy has several inexpensive pillow covers too.  Using a cover helps when it’s time to store them away.  Or you can be like me and just keep the old pillow cover on under the new one.  That’s being lazy.  I prefer to think it makes them a bit thicker.

I know most of us have necessary things like water bottles, alarm clocks, phone chargers etc., on our bedside tables but during the holiday season, think about going down to the minimum and adding pretty Christmas decor.  At least a little bit.  When I added the small Santa, antler and wooden tree, I left enough room for my fan.  Plus there’s still enough room for my phone.  Now when I wake up and check the time or turn off the alarm, I wake up happy and in a joyous Christmas spirit.

On the Mister’s side table he gets holiday decor that’s a teeny bit more masculine.  And since I’m the one that usually keeps things clean around here, I’ll keep shoving all of his receipts and junk into the drawers so he can wake up energized and ready to head upstairs to his office and get to work.  He hasn’t said anything about it yet but I’m sure he’s enjoying it.  What’s not to love?!

The third idea for a Christmas bedroom is to add something different over the bed.  We have a canopy bed so it’s a no-brainer to add garland on the upper rails.  I’ve used fresh greenery before, hung ornaments from the ring in the middle and tried curtains but the curtains didn’t look all that great.  I need to figure out how better to hang them because I love a bed with curtains!

If you don’t have canopy bed, what about a wreath or picture of Santa or nice outdoor snowy scene in a frame?  I like the white and gray one I have already up there because it works with the gray and white neutral theme I’m fond of this year.  You could drape garland along the edges of the headboard too.  Anything that says Christmas to you and different than what you usually have everyday.

If you have room include a seating area.  Trust me when I say you will love adding a chair with a table on the side this time of year.  I bet you love it so much you’ll keep it there all year round.  There’s just something about being in a quiet space with a good book and a throw blanket that screams cozy.  The chair should be comfy and the table needs good task lighting.  Sometimes people have to rearrange their furniture so the Christmas tree will fit.  Maybe that chair will fit in your bedroom?  Just try it.  If it turns into a catch-all space where someone dumps their shoes or you start hanging clothes on it like the exercise machine, take it out.  That’s not pleasant.

Last but not least if you want to create a cozy Christmas bedroom, the best idea is to add is a Christmas tree.  It doesn’t need to be a full size.  Stores carry tall super slim trees too.  This one is about 3 foot tall but in this basket filled with books, it’s a little taller.  Just imagine sitting in a chair with a new magazine, holiday music playing and the the glow of a beautiful Christmas tree next to you.  Yep, it’s quite lovely.  Add some hot cocoa and I’m not budging.

Let’s do a quick recap of what you need for a Merry Christmas Bedroom:

Switch out the bedding

Make space on your bedside tables

Add decor on your bed, over the bed or on the headboard

Carve our a space for comfy seating

 Add a Christmas Tree

Well I hope you enjoyed my 5 delightful ideas for a merry Christmas bedroom and I hope you get to incorporate all or at least some of them.  They will make your holiday season so much more festive and peaceful at the same time.

Now it’s time to visit Quarters One and see her beautiful bedroom!  Then make sure and tour the other days of the week.  You will see tons of fantabulous inspo!

What a cozy and lovely room, Cindy–so many festive touches! I agree that a little seating area makes a bedroom so much more welcoming. I also don’t mind having an area to retreat to when we have a houseful of family. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks so much for touring with us and Merry (early) Christmas!

    • December 5, 2021 / 12:01 pm

Oh isn’t that the truth?! I need a place to retreat. Sometimes our house is so loud and all I want to do is close the door and read. A little Hallmark movie doesn’t hurt either. Thanks for the visit and the sweet comment. Merry Christmas!

I think about you all the time Paula. Usually when I put something not so treasured and somewhat new on a table. I think Paula would have a treasured piece to put here with such a story! Not kidding. Glad you like it. Big hugs.

What a fun hop, Cindy! Your master bedroom looks beautiful and cozy all decked out for the holidays. I’m a big fan of anything Mud Pie, and I love how you added simple touches like the garland on your canopy bed. I’ve been hunting for a chair for our bedroom so I can sit there and enjoy some cocoa too! Thanks for the inspiration, my friend, and Merry Christmas!

    • December 14, 2021 / 10:51 am

I’m hunting for a new chair too. One that has more cushioning. The one we have isn’t the most comfy so I put another pillow under the bum. That way I can stand (sit) it for an entire Hallmark movie. Gotta keep it real around here. LOL! Thanks for the visit and glad you were inspired Crissy. Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much friend. That bed was a surprise gift from the hubs almost 20 years ago and I still love it. And the bedding was something totally different for me but I do actually love it too. Hope you’re having a great weekend.
